MagicCon: Amsterdam is filled with news. From Secret Lair Superdrops to announcing new sets that reveal collaborations and returns to fan-favorite planes, there is a lot to break down. During the MagicCon: Amsterdam Preview Panel, Wizards of the Coast unveiled the first details about the MagicCon events and original Magic sets for 2027.

What was in the MagicCon: Amsterdam Preview Panel?

The new 2027 Magic: The Gathering sets are big ones! The panel featured a special focus on the Magic Multiverse with one story arc ending with the October 2, 2026 launch of “Reality Fracture” and another beginning in 2027. Still, the 2027 Magic: The Gathering sets include all-new sets, including Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, and Zhalfir.

Official Synopsis: The Multiverse meets its match… Reality Fracture is the epic conclusion of the arc that began in Wilds of Eldraine three years ago. Following a showdown in the Meditation Realm at the end of Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Jace Beleren now seeks to reshape the Multiverse into his ideal vision. Fans can expect to see some of their favorite characters – including Chandra and Garruk – return in twisted, unique ways.

Reality Fracture Secret Lair

Each Secret Lair Bundle includes two Collector Boosters, six Play Boosters, a set of traditional foil basic lands, and two of 10 traditional foil Secret Lair Bundle promo cards. For these, the Secret Lair team has reimagined 10 cards from the main set with a focus on making sure that “they were pulled straight from Jace’s wild visions of a reforged reality.”

These Secret Lair Bundles will be available at your local game store, online retailers like TCGplayer and Amazon, and the Secret Lair storefront.

Reality Fracture launches worldwide on October 2, 2026, at your local card shop or online retailers.

Mystery Booster: Commander Edition Announced

During the Preview Panel, it was announced that the next iteration of Mystery Booster is coming later in 2026. And taking full advantage of the TCG’s most popular format, it will be a Mystery Booster Commander Edition that is designed for Commander draft.

GenCon will serve as the first sneak peek at what’s inside and how it works.

What are the new Magic: The Gathering 2027 sets?

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm

MagicCon Amsterdam Preview Panel - New 2027 sets: Nauctis: The Sunken Realm

Story synopsis: As tensions bubble between two warring kingdoms, a group of unlikely heroes must rise to the occasion – or their home will be swallowed up by the seas. Adventures await under the water, and players will come face-to-face with fearsome creatures that dwell far, far from the surface.

The start of a brand new Multiverse story, “Nauctis: The Sunken Realm” introduces players to Nauctis, Magic’s take on an undersea plane. The set features merfolk, seals, homarids, and other aquatic creatures, along with deities who rule over the currents. So yeah, if you ever wanted to learn a Simic merfolk deck? Now may be the time!

Reality Fracture launches worldwide on February 5, 2027, at your local card shop or online retailers.

Kamigawa: Titanbreach

MagicCon Amsterdam Preview Panel - New 2027 sets: Kamigawa: Titanbreach

Official synopsis: When an Omenpath opens above the neon-lit skies of Towashi, a huge mass of Ikoria crashes through, unleashing mayhem. The people of Kamigawa must band together to stop the monsters of Ikoria that threaten to stomp, scorch, and shatter their home. Kamigawa: Titanbreach is a clash between two iconic Magic planes, Ikoria and Kamigawa.

Kamigawa: Titanbreach releases on June 4, 2027, at your local card shop or online retailers.

Zhalfir

MagicCon Amsterdam Preview Panel - New 2027 sets: Zhalfir

Official Synopsis: The kingdom of Zhalfir has reentered the Multiverse as its own plane! Zhalfir will showcase its namesake like never before, lush with vibrant magic and rooted in its storied past, as its people find their place in the Multiverse. Teferi Akosa will also return to Zhalfir, giving a new generation of players the chance to meet Magic’s master of chronomancy.

One of the most exciting announcements to come from the MagicCon Amsterdam Preview Panel, Zhalfir will push innovation as this new plane introduces “mind-bending cards” that each embrace Magic’s take on the afrofantasy genre.

Zhalfir releases on October 1, 2027, at your local card shop or online retailers.

MagicCon 2027 Schedule

For 2027, Wizards of the Coast will be expanding to four MagicCon events around the world:
