If there is one thing for certain about Rayman’s signature humor, it’s that there is probably going to be a baguette. And that should come as no surprise, with Ubisoft Montpellier responsible for working on the franchise throughout its history. Now, ahead of Paris Games Week, Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan (the development duo behind the latest Rayman title) announced that Rayman Legends Retold will pay homage to French creativity with a “baguette” costume styled after what you see in Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
In our interview with the developers, they mentioned that Mystic Mesa isn’t the only culturally specific humor in the game. From the French-accented characters to plenty of Italian food jokes, the studios developing the title in France and Italy aren’t afraid to poke fun at their own cultures, and it all comes from a place of love, according to the devs.

Developers Sandfall Interactive understood that humor with their Parisian costumes in last year’s beloved title, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. At launch, players can get “baguette” outfits as a bit of cosmetic comedy. The new costume will be available for both Rayman and Barbara.
According to Ubisoft, the costumes were “conceived as a tribute from one French studio to another” and were made to “celebrate the creativity, passion, and unmistakable French touch that continue to make the country’s video game industry shine on the global stage.” And with Sandfall Interactive putting France at the forefront of games industry discussions last year, it all just makes sense.
And you won’t need to wait to pick up the costume when you load up the game for the first time. Players can experience the adventure as Rayman and Barbara in their “baguette” outfits from day one, adding more French playful flair to Rayman Legends: Retold.
What is Rayman Legends: Retold about?

Co-led by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, Rayman Legends Retold reimagines the acclaimed platformer, Rayman Legends. But this reimagining also includes new content and narrative twists. Players will enjoy fast-paced action-adventure filled with chaos and comedy, all while the development team aims to bring new ways to challenge themselves or play with family and friends. Additionally, the game will have 4-player couch co-op and face-off in the improved Kung-Fu.
What is the release date?

Rayman Legends Retold releases on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on December 3rd, 2026.
