At last, the killer we’ve all been waiting for is coming to Dead by Daylight. After a thirteen-hour livestream with the camera focused on a cabin in the middle of the woods, Behaviour Interactive revealed that Jason Voorhees will be coming to the game with a brief teaser trailer.
While details are minimal at the time of release, this announcement has been long anticipated by fans who have been asking for this well-known and beloved slasher killer to be added to the game.

Who is Jason Voorhees?
If you aren’t familiar, here’s a brief breakdown, mostly sans spoilers, for anyone who hasn’t experienced the Friday the 13th franchise yet.
Jason Voorhees is arguably one of the most iconic slasher villains in horror history. Introduced in Friday the 13th in 1980, he was initially the catalyst for the horror at Camp Crystal Lake. It’s hard to forget the film’s final scare and its impact on the franchise, horror fans everywhere, and the character itself. In the sequel, Friday the 13th Part 2, his story changes (which technically works well in sync with the Entity’s dimensional traversal), as he steps into the role of the slasher he’s meant to be.
Most known for donning a hockey mask, this hulking killer is often associated with wielding a machete to kill his victims. However, across various films, novelizations, and the like, he’s been known to get creative with what’s around him, as seen in, for example, Jason X. And given later film installments that introduced and then kept his superhuman-like endurance and near-immortality, he is the perfect killer to be introduced into the Entity’s realm for its violent purposes.
The Killers of 2026
Jason Voorhees is the latest killer to be introduced to the multiplayer game, joining the ranks of other familiar and deadly faces. Even though there haven’t been too many additions to this year’s roster, here’s who has been added in 2026:

Is Dead by Daylight Available To Play Now?
For those new to this behemoth of horror gaming, Dead by Daylight, developed by Behaviour Interactive, is an asymmetrical multiplayer experience that pits survivors against a killer. In the game, you are trapped forever in a realm of cosmic evil by The Entity, and play as either one of four determined Survivors or the bloodthirsty Killer hunting them. It’s a cool twist to the Slasher genre.
Initially released in 2016, this asymmetrical horror game has continuously expanded its roster of characters to include countless iconic horror properties from film, television, gaming, and beyond. From its large community to the multitude of character options to choose from, jumping into new games doesn’t require as much catching up as you might think.
So, if you want to get a head start on jumping into the fray before the arrival of Jason Voorhees, now is as good a time as any.
