Nomion Games announced that Space Meerkat, the Croatian 3D artist and influencer, has joined the young video game development studio as the Art Director. In the same announcement, Nomion Games revealed a first look at its upcoming shooter, Rush is Real.
The process of joining the studio was quite simple. “Jean Tyulegenov, Creative Director at Nomion, sent me a DM on Instagram. He told me that he really liked my style and the work I had posted there at the time. He suggested we get on a call to discuss the prospects of working together,” explained Space Meerkat to Nomion’s Executive Producer, Dmitri Ogorodnikov.
“I’ve always been fascinated by Asian megacities and the heavy brutalism of Eastern Europe. Both of these worlds create a sense of the scale of human civilization,” commented Jean Tyulegenov. “I think the way Asia is perceived differs between the Western world and Eastern Europe. My own perspective was shaped by being close to both worlds: I was born in Kazakhstan, a country between China and Russia.
But when I saw Space Meerkat’s work, it felt to me like he was looking at the world through my eyes. Perhaps that’s why our collaboration turned out to be so natural.”
Rush is Real doesn’t have a release date announced yet, but more details have been revealed about what Nomion Games and Space Meerkat are working on aesthetically for the shooter game.
First look at Rush is Real and Space Meerkat’s Visual Impact

While details are still scarce regarding what the developers intend for Rush is Real, back in February, after his departure from BattleState Games, Dmitri Ogorodnikov announced on social media that the game is “not just another shooter”. The game’s first look showcases the team’s aesthetic ambitions while proudly displaying its inspirations.
Through his discussion with Ogorodnikov, Space Meerkat explained his design interests in his approach to the game: “I’m much more drawn to something colder and more grounded: raw concrete, brutalist architecture, with sci-fi elements layered on top but not drawing all the attention to themselves. Industrial first, futuristic second. I think this inversion will help Rush is Real stand out and not feel like another cyberpunk copy.
The world itself and the map as a whole are a stylized fusion of brutalism and cyberpunk: massive concrete structures, dense verticality, and a huge scale that allows us to create genuinely layered spaces. And this layering isn’t only visual – it’s functional. It gives us enormous freedom for exploring the world and placing loot, because different levels of the same structure can offer completely different possibilities.
And this is exactly where everything starts to come together with our gameplay systems. Many of the things we’ve already created for Rush is Real fit very naturally into this kind of environment. The systems and the world don’t conflict with each other – on the contrary, they reinforce one another. This combination, I think, is what will allow the game to go beyond simply being “another cyberpunk world.”
While the development team is deep into work on its first game, it’s clear they have a strong sense of aesthetics that is shaping their approach to every component of the game’s inner workings. With more information to come, this first look gives players a glimpse into what Nomion Games and Space Meerkat have in store.
