Apex Legends has announced its next collaboration, Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6. Partnering with Capcom, the Outlands will be hosting guests from one of gaming’s oldest and fiercest competitions. The World Warriors of Street Fighter 6 will be arriving soon. And they are bringing skins, a new mode, and more with them. During a hands-off virtual walkthrough of the new features, the developers from Respawn showed media what’s in store for their upcoming Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6 Event.
The most visible change players will notice right off the bat when the event arrives is the redesign of Olympus. Themed to look like a Street Fighter stage, the map looks great. Luke’s Gym has been recreated to give fighters a place to throw down, and the map is wall-to-wall with recolors and SF-themed items.
Statues of the eight fighters featured via skins are littered around the map, honoring the legendary warriors. There are destructible cars (melee only), arcade cabinets, and even giant Blanka Chans, bringing a sense of festivity to the map. Many surfaces have even been covered in fighting mats to augment the theme.
Wildcard Takeover brings 3rd-person action to Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6.

The new mode, Wildcard Takeover, introduces Fighter Form to the game. Fighter Form moves the action to third person as players utilize new Fighter Gear Kits based on Ryu, Chun Li, Akuma, and Dhalsim. Each character brings new tactical and ultimate abilities, along with special movement abilities like double jump and teleport, enhanced melee combat, and a special block function. When a match enters its final stretch, Showdown begins. Any fighters who are downed or respawning immediately rejoin the fray and join in on one last battle to see which team will be the only one left standing.
During the Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6 Event, players can earn Zenny to unlock items in the reward shop, including a legendary Lifeline x Li-Fen Epic Skin. Along with the earnable epic, there are eight other Street Fighter skins for players to get their hands on. They are:
- Sparrow as Ryu
- Alter as Chun Li
- Bangalore as Elena
- Mirage as Luke
- Gibraltar as Akuma
- Wattson as Cammy
- Caustic as Blanka
- Pathfinder as Dhalsim
Respawn has done a fantastic job on the visual front.

The devs who led the preview event emphasized how much care went into picking characters for each skin that worked visually and, as much as possible, complemented the character’s personality or style. Respawn has done a fantastic job on the visual front.
Not only did they keep loads of familiar details for the iconic characters, but they also beautifully worked in elements native to the Apex characters, making them look organic with the rest of the skin’s SF6 design. Most notable were a pair of transparent tubes hanging from Caustic/Blanka’s waist, which contained electric eels in this version as a clear throwback to Blanka’s signature move.
New skins also bring Street Fighter 6’s signature weapons to Apex Legends.

Each character skin also gets a signature weapon that has been visually redone in order to pair beautifully with its chosen skin. The weapons include the R-99, EVA-8, Flatline, Volt, Scout, Mozambique, Sentinel, and Peacekeeper. Players can round out their kits with two Skydive Emotes, Holosprays, Stickers, Badges, Trackers, and Frames. Players who show their fighter’s spirit can also claim the new Hadoken Mythic Universal Melee cosmetic.
With a redone map, new mode, great skins, and other cosmetics available, the Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6 Event is shaping up to be a competition worthy of both sets of fighters. The only thing left is to wait for the starting bell and let round one begin.
