Netflix may have slowed down the pipeline on its American productions, but when it comes to international series and films, they just keep coming. With a solid roster of multiple South Korean dramas each month, Wild Sing is shaking things up as a feature film focused on comedy instead of the romance or horror audiences have grown accustomed to on the platform.
Directed by Son Jae-gon, Wild Sing aims to tap into Gen 1 K-pop nostalgia. And it’s going to do that with stars Gang Dong-won, Um Tae-goo, Park Ji-hyun, and Oh Jung-se. With the packed cast, Wild Sing is set to release on Netflix globally on July 31, 2026, to close out the summer.

“Making comedy films helps me view the world with a bit more ease,” says director Son Jae-gon in a comment to the Netflix Newsroom. “Wild characters go through wild struggles and sing wildly. I hope you enjoy watching Wild Sing and laugh, then find yourself singing to yourself.”
What is Wild Sing About?
In the film, we see a former K-pop band named Triangle, a three-member co-ed dance group, who were suddenly pushed to disband after a scandal. Now, the former friends must pick up two decades after their fallout, with their years of dominating the 2000s charts.
When we meet them, Triangle is a washed-up trio that gets one more shot at the spotlight, even if they may not entirely be in the best shape to do so. A comedy, the film’s conflict revolves around the 20 years of bad blood and bad decisions that have built up since Triangle was last together.
When they’re given an offer to reunite and perform on stage, it pulls leader Hyun-woo (Gang Dong-won) out of survival-broadcaster obscurity and back in search of the bandmates he lost along the way: rapper Sang-gu (Um Tae-goo), buried in debt from a failed solo attempt, and center Do-mi (Park Ji-hyun), who opted for life as the daughter-in-law of a chaebol family.

Who is performing the songs in Wild Sing?
While Triangle is a fiction, the voices and music behind them is real. Triangle’s fictional discography was shaped by JYP Entertainment collaborators Shim Eun-ji (producer for TWICE, SHINee, IU, ITZY) and KASS (producer for NMIXX, GOT7, ITZY).
The styling tracks the group’s evolution across two eras of K-pop fashion, from bright, boxy first-album uniforms to a colder, metallic Y2K second act. Additionally, the choreography was overseen by Yang Wook of Nana Company, who has coached the hit variety project SSAK3.
What is the release date?
Wild Sing will stream with subtitles in 32 languages and dubbed in 15 languages. The film comes to Netflix worldwide on July 31, 2026, at 12:00 am PT (July 30th in Korea).
