EA Sports College Football 27 (CFB 27) has been going strong. After starting its release with an MTX stumble and difficulties communicating the new update to the coaching experience, the ship seems to have corrected course. Now in its third title update, the game is getting the usual quality-of-life features, which are fine. We get more uniforms and new Road to Glory templates. But one big item the CFB 27 September Update brings is EA SPORTS Network.
If you’ve played in an Online Dynasty that gets invested in their teams and stories, then you have either read a post-game report your friend wrote up or written one up yourself. Much of this work happens outside the game, often with commissioners spending hours writing it up for their Dynasty. While the EA SPORTS Network won’t entirely replace this manual labor of love, it does give a more personal take on your team and boosts the immersion of bringing your program up to the CFP.

CFB 27 September Update: Gameplay
Man Coverage Changes
Highlight: We’re getting Man Coverage updates on defense, which, to me, suggests the CFB 27 team knows keeping defense responsive and strong is key to maintaining the magic of the launch game’s appeal. As of right now, though, this update includes pass lead tuning, route running, man press, and the WR/DB jostle (one of CFB 27’s highest-marketed defensive features).
Additionally, the developers included a note about the ongoing fine-tuning that Man Coverage will get over time due to player feedback:
We’ve heard your feedback around Man Coverage and have been actively investigating. We want to be diligent with our approach to ensure Man Coverage remains a viable defensive strategy, but is balanced. Our team has reviewed player data and social sentiment. After further testing, we’ve identified targeted issues that could have contributed to cases of overly effective man coverage.
General Gameplay Fixes
Highlight: This is a personal, “Thank God!” moment – the developers have fixed an issue where receivers would start to drop the ball before a catch tackle knockout would play. Drops have plagued my 4-star team as much as my 2-star team. They’ve also added ‘Perfect Hit vs Perfect Timing Knockout’ text for Users on Defense when a knockout occurs after a Perfect Time-Based Catch.
Coverage Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Combo Coverage would convert to Lock when in a press alignment.
- Fixed an issue where Cloud Flats were ignoring user coaching adjustment drop depths and aggressively jumping short flat routes.
- Fixed an issue that prevented users from calling defensive hot routes on players assigned to a man coverage check.
- Fixed an issue where calling Zone Drops through Custom Adjustments wouldn’t update the play art on the field.
CFB 27 September Update: Dynasty
EA Sports Network Launches
Highlight: Yeah, this whole thing is the highlight. Probably the most anticipated element that players have been asking for, the EA Sports Network is a “brand new, dynamic storytelling system that turns your custom career path into an ongoing news hub.”
Usually, updates on players and teams were handled as static, one-off events that did little beyond showing basic statistics. Now, though, EA Sports has launched personalized news coverage, game previews, and post-game recaps that change week over week based on your performance on the field and who you are playing. This is an element of the game that many Online Dynasties have had to do by hand to help keep things competitive and immersive.
I can’t sum up the features better than EA Sports can, so here you go:
- Authentic Storytelling: Your games are treated like real-world news. The network dynamically reacts to major season moments, celebrating statement wins, breaking down tough rivalry losses, and highlighting standout player performances.
- Increased Narrative Variety: You will now experience a more customized pool of Game Previews and Post-Game Recaps. We did this so your weekly content can always feel fresh and unique to your schedule.
- Updated News Tab: We updated the CFB News Tab to be the EA SPORTS Network in-game so you know exactly where to go to experience this. Our goal is to give you a deeper, authentic experience that’s easy to access.

AD Expectations Changes:
- Fixed an issue where having 2+ All-American or All-Conference would not properly evaluate.
- Fixed an issue where winning a conference championship this season could appear for FBS Independents.
- Fixed an issue where being ranked in the top 15 would not properly evaluate.
- Fixed an issue where the goal to sign at least one 3-star recruit or better did not properly account for 4- and 5-star recruits.

- Updated the Arizona State vs Kansas game in year 1 of Dynasty to be played at Wembley Stadium.
- Updated NRG Stadium name to Reliant Stadium.
