NCSOFT, a global leader in MMORPGs, is making a bold move into the shooter genre. The company unveiled two original shooters, Time Takers and Cinder City, during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2025. These titles lead NCSOFT’s diverse 2025-2026 lineup, showcasing the company’s new global publishing strategy.

Known for their MMORPG titles, the publisher took the spotlight to premiere not one, but two shooters. And more importantly, two shooters that are vastly different in their approach to the genre. Developed by Mistill, Games, Time Takers was built on Unreal Engine 5, featuring high-quality graphics and fast-paced gameplay, according to the release to the media.

For Time Takers, the pastel pop aesthetic of the future and how it clashes with the Medieval soldier make it unique. Not to mention, the trailer’s choice of song, and attention to showcasing the diversity of play types in this time-traveling hero shooter makes it stand out- or maybe it was just the monkey?

What is Time Takers?

Making its debut at Gamescom, Time Takers is a third-person, team-based survival shooter with a unique central mechanic: time is a resource. Players form teams of three and choose a “Time Traveler” from different eras to battle other teams. In this fight for survival, only one team can emerge victorious.

Time Takers‘ Steam page highlights what you may be thinking: what makes this game different from others in the genre? Here is their answer, “Unlike traditional hero shooters, Time Takers lets you break out of fixed roles. Each character brings a unique ability, but your choice of weapons and apps completely transforms how you play — even with the same character.”

Players collect Time Energy during matches to upgrade their skills and equip apps that enhance combat performance. Time Energy is also a lifeline that determines individual and team survival, making every second a strategic decision. With distinct character abilities and flexible builds through weapon and app combinations, players can create their unique playstyles.

Team composition and coordination matter. The right mix of abilities, weapons, and timing can shift the momentum of a match and decide who’s left standing.

  • Use Time Energy as both survival and growth currency
  • Build freely through your choice of weapons and passive apps
  • Outlast the competition in high-stakes team-based combat
  • Support your squad in fast-paced encounters by sharing time and reviving teammates under pressure
