The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and Electronic Arts is making sure EA Sports FC 26 is tournament-ready. The World’s Game update is live now for EA Sports FC 26 and EA Sports FC Mobile, bringing a wave of international content headlined by a brand-new 48-team tournament mode arriving on June 4, 2026.
The base update landed on May 28 with gameplay tuning and Football Ultimate Team additions, but the tournament is the main event, dropping just one week before the real competition begins.
53 Nations, One Tournament

The World’s Game mode brings 53 fully licensed national teams to EA Sports FC 26, including 41 of the qualified nations competing this summer. The roster covers global powerhouses like Brazil, England, Argentina, Germany, France, Spain, and the United States, alongside less-expected additions like Cabo Verde, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia.
The tournament format mirrors the scale of the real thing. Forty-eight teams progress through three group stage matches, with the top two from each group and the eight best third-place finishers advancing to a round of 32 knockout bracket that runs through to the final. Outside the tournament, one-off international matchups are also playable in Kick Off, and Football Ultimate Team is getting a dedicated Event Hub with weekly Festival of Football-themed campaigns.
Two nations — Bosnia & Herzegovina and Congo DR — will launch with generic kits on June 4, with authentic kits arriving in a later update.
New Licensing Deals and Real World Cup Venues

Three of the biggest licensing additions come in the form of newly announced partnerships with Brazil, Spain, and Portugal, bringing official kits, crests, and player likenesses for some of the sport’s most storied national programs.
The return of Brazil stands out. The Seleção hasn’t carried full national team licensing — authentic kits, crests, and real player likenesses — in EA’s flagship soccer title since FIFA 21. FC 24 included teams with authentic kits and badges but generic players, while FC 25 dropped them entirely. That gap is now closed.
EA Sports FC 26 is also adding new stadiums with this update. Gillette Stadium and BMO Field are both real-world 2026 FIFA World Cup venues in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and Toronto, respectively. Central Maw, a new EA-created stadium built to capture the intensity of top-tier international soccer, rounds out the additions. The game now features over 120 stadiums total across its 35 leagues.
Festival of Football Takes Over Ultimate Team
Football Ultimate Team is getting a summer-long overhaul. The Festival of Football event launches alongside the tournament mode on June 4, introducing a new rewards system built around Festival of Football Tokens. Tokens consolidate the traditional mode-specific reward structure, letting players earn progress toward the same pool of rewards across Rivals, Squad Battles, Rush, Live Events, select Objectives, and select SBCs.
Players can earn up to 1,000 Tokens per week across the event’s five-week run, redeemable in a dedicated store for Players, Packs, Evolutions, and Club Customization items. FUT Champions is also getting its own Token system, giving players more control over their weekend rewards regardless of skill level.
Two new ICONs join EA Sports FC 26 with this update: Brazilian attacking midfielder Roberto Rivellino and Argentine striker Mario Kempes, both debuting with special Greats of the Game versions on June 19. Players who log in and play FC 26 between June 5 and July 24, 2026, also receive a 93 OVR Festival of Football ICON Pelé and three Choose Your Journey Evolutions.
On top of that, a new Evo Undo feature arriving in a server release after June 4 lets players roll back the latest Evolution or fully reset all Evolutions on their cards, returning originally tradeable items to tradeable status.
Five themed campaigns roll out between June 5 and July 24: Path to Glory, Greats of the Game, Glory Hunters, Phenoms, and Summer Stars.
Gameplay Tuning Targets Bruiser and Team Press

The World’s Game update also brings targeted gameplay adjustments shaped by community feedback. The Bruiser and Bruiser+ PlayStyles have been dialed back after players flagged shoulder challenge outcomes as too punishing.
To balance the interaction, Enforcer and Enforcer+ now receive a slight counter-boost when on the receiving end. The update also improves how the game detects challenges from behind, canceling shoulder challenges that would clip an opponent’s back.
Team Press, one of the most overused tactics in the current meta, got a notable rework. AI-controlled defenders in the defensive half now apply less aggressive pressure on the ball carrier and adopt looser marking as opponents advance toward goal. These restrictions only apply in the defensive half, keeping AI behavior in the attacking half unchanged. The goal is to open up more tactical variety rather than funneling every match into the same high-pressure defensive approach.
The Intercept PlayStyle also received an update: players without the PlayStyle but with a 90+ Interceptions attribute rating now have access to the same interception animations as those who carry it.
A new Penalty Shootouts limited-time event caps off the gameplay additions, arriving June 28 in both Football Ultimate Team and Kick-Off to mark the start of knockout soccer.
Career Mode and Clubs Expand
Career Mode picks up the international tournament as well, following the same 48-team structure and rules as The World’s Game mode. Players can add a national team to manage at the start of any new save, and new End of Season Live Starting Points let managers jump right into the action before the tournament begins. Weekly Festival of Football-themed Manager Live Challenges start rolling out on June 5.
Clubs mode is expanding its customization ceiling. The Archetype level cap increases from 90 to 95, unlocking a ninth customizable PlayStyle slot at that new cap. A fourth Signature PlayStyle has also been added across all Archetypes, with its PS+ upgrade available at level 95. Maximum Archetype-specific attribute ranges have been raised across all positions as well.
EA Sports FC 26 now features more than 20,000 players across 750+ clubs and national teams, over 120 stadiums, and 35 leagues, supported by more than 300 global soccer partners. The World’s Game tournament mode goes live on June 4.
