When we spoke with Singularity 6 developers about Palia‘s “Home for Winterlights Update,” we got a surface-level look at what’s new and refined. Now, thanks to the dev blog, Patch 0.198 is in full focus.

The holidays have arrived in Palia. Kilma Village is covered in snow, and the Winterlights update brings a sleigh-full of cozy content, from the return of the Winterlights Store to new Furniture Tints, and even the arrival of the fluffy Boovar. There is a lot to celebrate in Palia this winter. Add in the brand new Lunar Path progression system and a new dynamic community event with “Grow-A-Snowman,” and there is just a lot to do for existing players and new players alike.

Additionally, the dev blog also explains how the Home for Winterlights Update introduces Estate Home Line for hosting the perfect holiday gathering, revamps the Bulletin Board, and introduces new earnable hair and makeup options for players to show off their seasonal styles. And a whole lot more.

You can explore the patch notes for Patch 0.198 in depth here. But for the key highlights coming in Home for Winterlights Update, keep on reading.

Winterlights 2025

The Return of Zeki’s Winterfest Challenge

Returning to Palia, players will receive mail from Zeki with hints about the locations of his seven hidden chests (all in new locations compared to previous Winterlights celebrations). Zeki’s Winterlights Chests contain rewards that allow players to update their housing plots with snow-covered decor and a bit more. Additionally, once players find all of the chests, they will also be able to purchase the recipes directly at the Winterlights Store.

Grow-A-Snowman Event

As noted in our interview, the Grow-A-Snowman event will be a dynamic collectathon that builds a snowman larger and larger in almost real time just outside Kilma Village. The community event begins December 9, 2025 and will end on January 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. PT. To participate, players will collect Snowman Plushes to help grow the snowman overlooking Kilima Village.

As part of the event, players can discover Sandy Paws Presents containing seasonal decor while participating in their favorite Palia activities, such as hunting, fishing, insect collecting, and more.

New Furniture Tints

Palia Winterlights But Why Tho 4

A long awaited addition, the Home for Winterlights Update also introduces a rework of the Furniture Tint system which introduces six additional tint palettes and an all-new way to apply tints to change your home’s color palette for the season.

New Tints:
  • Harmony: Acquired via Skill Medals from Fishing Guild Store (Requires Fishing Skill Level 10).
  • Noir: Acquired via Skill Medals from Furniture Making Guild Store (Requires Furniture Making Skill Level 10).
  • Olive: Acquired via Skill Medals from Foraging Guild Store (Requires Foraging Skill Level 10).
  • Slate: Acquired via Skill Medals from Mining Guild Store (Requires Mining Skill Level 10).
  • Violet: Acquired via Skill Medals from Insect Guild Store (Requires Insect Catching Skill Level 10).
  • Wintery: Acquired from Winterlights Store during Patch 0.198.

In their dev blog, Singularity 6 offered this quote:

“Players have been asking for additional furniture tints since we introduced the feature prior to our launch. Truth be told, the system had many shortcomings that we felt could be improved. When revisiting the system, our goals were to achieve the following:

Enable us to deliver tints on a regular cadence alongside other content in Palia, dramatically increasing the number of color options available over time. Transition tints into a new reward type that can be acquired through a variety of means. Make it less cumbersome for players to tint decor on their housing plot.

Unfortunately, tinted furniture dramatically increases the strain on player storage, which we needed to address in order to safely add more tints to the game for players and ensure we can increase storage limits over time. We’re hoping this trade off is a net win for players, but please let us know what you like or don’t like about the system so we can continue to improve it.” -S6 Forseti

New Home Line: The Estate

Home For Winterlights Palia promotional image from Singularity 6

Whlile The Estate is new in this update, it also serves as a vital reward for the new Lunar Paths progression system. Singuarlity 6 says that it inspired by the regal Mayor’s Estate in Kilima Village. And visually, you can tell! It includes new trims, columns, railings and stair options – supported across every Home Line. All are available through the Kitsuu Lunar Path

The Boovar!

Home For Winterlights Palia promotional image from Singularity 6

The boovar is a ranch companion with antlers and a big love for fish. Players can now add the Boovar to their ranches. “They’re known to be a bit hungrier than your average animal (even the Ormuu!), but their rewards more than make up for it. Bundle up, toss them a snack or two, and let your Boovar fish up a little winter magic for your ranch.”

Yeah, they’re just adorable and available through the Premium Store. The Woodland Boovar, Artic Boovar, and Holiday Cheer Boovar offer different aesthetics and cost 1275 Palia Coins each.

Lunar Path Progression System

Home For Winterlights Palia promotional image from Singularity 6

When it comes to consistent updates, Winterlights introduces one of the most significant offerings for veteran Palians: a progression system. Available now for the first time, Lunar Paths are a new long-term progression system that function like a battle pass, and are designed to give players a clear and satisfying way to earn both free and premium rewards, simply by playing.

Similar to a Battle Pass in other games, Lunar Paths are a cozy take on preogression rewards to keep players invested between updates. but the biggest thing is that unlike login rewards, there are no expiration dates, and your progress carries forward permanently.

Additionally, as a free-to-play game, Palia wil offer both free and preimium content with the new Lunar Paths, giving players options. With premium content unlockable by purchasing the Premium Unlock for each Path for Palia Coins.

Avancing along a Lunar Path allows players to earn unique materials, decor, cosmetics, plushes, and even new permanent account bonuses. For the folks not looking to grind, Singularity 6 also offers the option to unlock all Lunar path levels by purchasing the unlock with Palia Coins.
