What is happening in Marvel Rivals Season 5?

Marvel Rivals Season 5 - Love is a Battlefield - Gambit & Rogue

After the Timestream Entanglement interrupted their dream wedding. To make up for the disruption, Gambit has planned a honeymoon full of surprises for Rogue. But when their journey leads to a world built by the Elders of the Universe, can their love survive the ultimate cosmic test?

New Characters — Gambit & Rogue

Gambit, Remy LeBeau

Gambit Marvel Rivals Support - Season 5

Gambit joins Marvel Rivals Season 5 as a support class hero. Yes, you heard that right, the hero known for being able to explode anything he touches is a support. Landing in the Strategist class, Marvel Rivals’ take on Gambit combines kinetic energy control with his iconic playing cards, agile movement, and expert combat skills to create a unique playstyle.

In battle, Gambit combines his Chronovium-enhanced cards to unlock kinetic shifting to heal allies, cleanse negative effects, or deal damage: knocking back enemies and applying anti-heal. It’s these powerful secondary effects that make the difference to Gambit’s support kit.

Additionally, when teammates need help or foes rush in, Gambit can channel energy into his staff, using nimble movement and martial arts to take down threats. When activating his Ultimate Ability, Gambit launches kinetic-charged aces at all nearby allies, supercharging their jump abilities and adding explosive power to their attacks!

After some time with the character, our critic had this to say: “Gambit brings a fun mix of damage, heals, and status manipulation to Marvel Rivals. His ability to cancel out powerful effects will be game-altering for those with the patience to hold onto the resources to use them and the reflexes to respond at the right moment.”

Rogue

Marvel Rivals Season 5 - Love is a Battlefield - Gambit & Rogue

While Rogue is front and center in the “Love is a Battlefield” marketing, we haven’t gotten too much about her character just yet. With each class having gotten new additions since launch, Rogue can go literally anywhere. NetEase Games has been focused on utilizing existing power sets in the FPS hero genre, but how do you adapt a hero that can be, well, anyone? We’ll update this when we know.

New Map — Times Square

Marvel Rivals Season 5 Times Square social map

Marvel Rivals Season 5 brings the grand debut of New York’s Times Square map, as a non-combat map that can host up to 100 players. This provides players with a social map that has become increasingly more popular for multiplayer games with the success of titles like Fortnite.

In Times Square, players can hang out, dance, watch videos, read books, and let their imagination run wild. After seeing so many fun, friendly meetups in the Doom Match Sanctum Sanctorum map, the Marvel Rivals team wanted to give everyone a dedicated space for socializing, relaxing, and sharing cool moments outside of battle.

New Mode —18 vs 18 Conquest (Annihilation)

Marvel Rivals Season 5 also uses a new mode to bring even more chaos with a massive match where 36 (18v18) players clash in the all-new Grand Garden map. While Gambit and the Times Square map are out now, this new mode goes live on November 27, 2025.

What updates are coming in Marvel Rivals Season 5?

  • New placement system will also be introduced to Competitive mode, with more details to follow.
  • Cross-platform progression feature is on the way.
  • Continued development of a Marvel Rivals PvE mode that launched with Marvel Zombies.
  • The Costume trial program for university students will continue for Season 5 with a new batch of 10 costumes and MVPs, unlockable to university students when they verify their school email address.

Marvel Rivals Season 5 has begun with another update releasing on November 27, 2025.
