What is Amsterdam Empire?

The extravagant crime drama is set at the heart of the Amsterdam cannabis scene, full of both glamour and grime in equal measure. The story centers on Jack van Doorn (Jacob Derwig), the wealthy and notorious founder of the coffee shop empire, Jackal, who has spent his career battling criminals, rivals, and complex Dutch laws to rise to the top of his industry. His carefully constructed world begins to crumble, however, when his affair with a well-known journalist is exposed.

This reveal puts him directly in the crosshairs of his most dangerous foe: his betrayed wife, Betty, an ex-pop diva played by Famke Janssen. Knowing all of his weak spots and secrets, Betty will stop at nothing until she has taken everything from him.
