This week we were honored to talk with Nathaniel Moon himself, Sherman Augustus. In this conversation we talked with him about his transition from the NFL into acting, how he became a martial artist, what to expect in the last 8-episodes of season 3, and just how hard it is to film the iconic wuxia inspired fight scenes from Into the Badlands. This is by far the best moment for all of us on the podcast. So grab some popcorn, put on a bowler hat, and listen to this episode.

About Sherman Augustus: Sherman Augustus is an American actor. Augustus played professional football with the San Diego Chargers and Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at Northwestern College in Saint Paul, Minnesota with Jimmy Bridges. He is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in the martial art of Taekwondo.

About Into the Badlands: AMC’s goal for “Into the Badlands” was twofold: produce a compelling character drama, and introduce the highest caliber of martial arts filmmaking to a weekly, ongoing series. Left in the hands of creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “Smallville”), the series stars Daniel Wu as ruthless, prodigiously skilled warrior Sunny, who mentors teenage boy M.K. during a spiritual journey across a feudal civilization known as the Badlands. With the help of trained assassins like Sunny, the area is ruled by rival barons, and for decades Quinn has consistently outflanked and outmaneuvered his fellow barons to keep the upper hand. His invincibility, however, begins to fade in light of brazen attacks by the newest baron, The Widow, who believes M.K. is the key to her success. As the battle for control of the Badlands heats up, the destinies of the stoic assassin and the impetuous teenager become intertwined.
