We finally have a title for the upcoming new Elder Scrolls game: The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. Announced today in a teaser trailer that reveals the logo and shows just about as much as we saw at one of the last E3’s in 2018. It’s been eight years since Bethesda first teased Elder Scrolls VI. Since then, the studio released Starfield, several Skyrim remasters, and, unfortunately, was gutted by Microsoft layoffs. Still, the studio is moving forward.
For many, Bethesda’s fantasy worlds have been a mainstay, even as new titles in the universe dwindled, leaving only The Elder Scrolls Online to carry the torch. This isn’t a slight against the MMORPG set in the world of Elder Scrolls. Quite the contrary. The ESO team has kept the franchise’s spirit alive, and it’s only fitting that the reveal comes with a tie-in promotion.

To celebrate the reveal, The Elder Scrolls Online is offering a free, limited-time Golden Pursuit campaign titled “Alik’r Awaits.” Both new and existing players can earn rewards for exploring ESO’s Second Era version of the Alik’r Desert from today (November 3, 2026) until November 10, 2026.
The reveal of The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel logo and title also celebrates Bethesda Game Studios’ 40th anniversary. It’s been 12 years since ESO was first released, and longer since Skyrim, and now fans of the open-world RPG fantasy series have some hope for the future, especially after this year’s layoffs.
The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel name announcement coincides with Bethesda Game Studios’ 40th anniversary. Since the studio’s launch, Bethesda Game Studios has worked on sports titles (Gridiron and Wayne Gretzky Hockey), fantasy titles, and sci-fi alike. Not to mention Fallout. But with such a prolific history, the reveal feels bittersweet, coming in a year when the studio’s developers have been on uncertain ground thanks to Xbox’s continued “restructuring.”
What do we know about The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel?

Outside of the title, we don’t know much. However, the trailer also gives a slight tease after the title card that revealed the game’s name:
“The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by faith.” – Yazar, Moth Priest of High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell (4E 206).
With High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell mentioned in the tease, and the sands shown in the picture, it seems clear the next game in the fantasy franchise will take players to Hammerfell and finally give us a closer look at the Redguards and their native land.
While the Alik’r Desert is what we think of when we look at Hammerfell, the region in Tamriel is more than just sand. It also features trade ports along the Iliac Bay, subtropical regions along the Abecean Sea, and the Dragontail Mountains.
Sentinel is one of Hammerfell’s most prominent cities, and it’s clear now that’s where we’re headed. With heavy inspirations pulled from North Africa, it’s exciting to see more about a region that hasn’t gotten as much love as others in the franchise’s lore. We also know the featured quote dates the trailer to 4E 206, the Fourth Era, after the Second Treaty of Stros M’Kai.
