With the launch of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from PlayStation and Arc System Works, fans are finally getting a new Marvel fighting game. The action is fast and electric, the visuals are crisp and well-designed, and the character roster is packed with favorites and fun surprises, including some faces we don’t usually see.

Arc System Works even confirmed that they’re trying to focus on lesser-known characters or those who haven’t been in Marvel fighting games before. Marvel also confirmed that Phoenix Cyclops is the first DLC character to hit in the Year One roadmap, with more on the way. Plenty of people want Daredevil, Thanos, or Gambit, but here are five more characters that could be a great fit for the new fighting game, with an attempt to focus on lesser-known characters.

Quake

Marvel Tokon Quake

Quake would be a fantastic addition to the roster. Her earth-shaking abilities could literally help control the ground underneath the opponent’s feet. Whether it’d be stopping foes in their tracks, creating deadly earthquakes, or sending them flying with a huge blast, Quake would be a constant threat. She’s an incredible fighter in-universe, and a character we haven’t seen much of since Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, with a potential comeback in Marvel Tokon being a fantastic way to bring her back.

Nico Minoru

Marvel Tokon Nico Minoru

While Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has plenty of awesome fighters, the cast is sorely missing some magical representation. Enter Nico Minoru, an absolute mystical powerhouse that would be a fantastic fit. Formerly of the Runaways, Nico wields the Staff of One, a powerful artifact that can only cast a given spell one time, with drastic consequences if it’s cast again.

Nico could be a character built around these consequences, where every time her special abilities are used, they stand a chance at a random boon or affliction to either Nico or the opponent. She’d be utter chaos in the best way.

Sentry

Marvel Tokon Sentry

Sentry could be a really cool way to implement two characters into one. Sentry on his own is an absolute powerhouse, with incredible strength, speed, and a plethora of other abilities that would be fun to use. The Void, though, is Sentry’s dark alter ego, a complete reversal of the kind soul that Bob really is.

Trying to implement them both in the same character would be a great way to make Sentry a unique member of the cast. Whether taking too much damage pulls out the Void, or it’s a form-switch button press, changing up his abilities based on who’s on the field would be a blast.

M0lecule Man

Marvel Tokon Molecule Man

Molecule Man is one of the most powerful characters in the entirety of the Marvel universe, and seeing him front and center in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls would be fantastic. Molecule Man has total control of essentially all matter, being able to control, rearrange, and manipulate anything down to its molecular form.

Seeing how his powers could be expressed in a fighting game would be really interesting, especially if he’s able to mess with the opponent’s abilities or form. He’s someone we’ve never seen in a fighting game before, and it feels like the time is right for Molecule Man to make his debut.

Doctor Voodoo

Marvel Tokon Doctor Voodoo

Another magical powerhouse, Doctor Voodoo could be the perfect version of the Sorcerer Supreme to join Marvel Tokon. His magical abilities have a basis in the spiritual world, making his type of magic really different compared to other Marvel magicians.

Hypnotizing opponents, casting fire spells, and even summoning spirits to hold the opponent or deal damage at a distance, Doctor Voodoo could do a lot from anywhere on the field. His super attacks could be based around summoning his brother, Daniel Drumm, to massively boost his attack for a short time.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a fantastic way to introduce players to a wide world of really cool Marvel characters that don’t usually get the spotlight. Outside of these five, I’d love to see the likes of Black Cat and Kitty Pryde, two personal favorite Marvel characters. With an already fantastic cast and hopefully years of additions to come, what other characters should join the roster?

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is available on PlayStation5 and PC on August 6th, 2026.
