Teamfight Tactics’ upcoming set, “Enchanted Wilds,” is taking the convergence to an all-mystical world of magic and monsters. With an all-new mechanic, new origins, and more, Riot is looking to dazzle with the next set in its long-running auto-battler game.
As is always the case when a new set comes out, Teamfight Tactics “Enchanted Wilds'” biggest talking point is the new mechanic. In tune with the magical vibe of the set, the new mechanic is Wisps. Inspired by a previous fan-favorite mechanic, Charms, Wisps appear in players’ shops as temporary, single-use sources of power. With only one Wisp purchasable each round, player will find themselves with even more strategic choices to make as they prep for their coming battles.

While Wisps share a lot in common with Charms, the new mechanic aims to innovate and expand upon the former concept. Teamfight Tactics “Enchanted Wilds” is looking to give Wisps more variety, improved visuals, and an upgraded progression system to make the mechanic stand out from its predecessor.

While new mechanics always bring hype, at the center of team building are origins and traits. With five new options and an unlockable sixth joining the pool, the game looks to further bring the magical world to life through these new offerings. Let’s take a quick look at each.
One of the set’s marquee vertical traits is RiftBeasts. Centered around augmenting a single beast with an Alpha Mark, the pack grows in power until a veritable stampede is ready to overrun the player’s enemies. At its highest levels, players gain the option of recruiting the Elder Dragon for late-game power.
While RiftBeasts bring aggression, the new trait, Elderwood, offers more defensive advantages. Allowing the player to deploy placeable forest plants, these magical flora can improve defense, empower allies, and provide frontline support. This trait is designed to pair well with many secondary traits, making it a great foundation to start building from.

Teamfight Tactics “Enchanted Wilds” next three traits, Sunbeam, Moonbeam, and Eclipse, function in a unique way. Sunbeam provides your board with shields and bonus magic damage, and Moonbeam provides its champions and adjacent allies with bonus attack speed and magic damage. When both are activated at the same time, Eclipse comes online. When active, the trait executes the lowest-health enemy character every few seconds after the sun and moon overlap in combat.
Blossom is the final new entry here. This trait serves to augment the new Wisp mechanic. Blossom unlocks empowered versions of the Wisps. It increases their utility and offers new ways to interact with the mechanic as the trait scales.
Teamfight Tactics “Enchanted Wilds” welcomes a new rotation of Legendary Champions to shine with the special flair that the exclusive title always brings. The trio that gets to claim the title this set is Draven, Ivern, and Lux. Each of the triumvirate brings unique elements that will greatly impact the game. Draven has personal bounties to complete, Ivern transforms the board into a unique biome, and Lux has a versatile way of interacting with traits, making her an especially useful teambuilding tool.

A major element many fans will be happy to see return in Teamfight Tactics, “Enchanted Wilds” is the carousel. Mid-game drafting is back for players to further steer their builds towards their chosen goals. With the carousel being such a core element of the gameplay loop, it’s exciting to see it return.
As with every new set, the upcoming release brings a slew of new cosmetics. Some of the most notable include a new, exclusive TfT-designed Soul Fighter Jinx chibi, as well as a chibi Office Aatrox. We are also getting Unbound versions of Spirit Blossom Springs Aphelios and Coven LeBlanc. A new arena, Jinx’s Tournament of Chaos, rounds out the highlights.
