When you think of Jennifer Lopez and film, you probably think of ‘rom-coms,’ like Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, and the recent Marry Me. Well, guess what? She’s returning to the genre once again, this time with Netflix’s Office Romance. And, if you guessed that it involves an office romance, you would be correct.

The streamer announced that Lopez will star alongside Brett Goldstein in the upcoming film, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on June 5. This is quite the unlikely pairing, but it’ll be interesting to see how the two mesh onscreen.

Goldstein penned the screenplay with Joe Kelly (Ted Lasso), with Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) in the director’s seat. Lopez, Goldstein, and Kelly are also producers, along with Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina. Pamela Thur and Courtney Baxter are executive producers.

What is the Office Romance about?

As described by Netflix’s TUDUM, the film follows two co-workers who are involved in a secret office romance. Trouble ensues once these colleagues start thinking more with their hearts rather than their minds. That’s about it in terms of the premise, making it almost indistinguishable from other office romance story types in this subgenre of romance.

However, as we get closer to the film’s release on the streaming service, expect to learn more about the premise, the characters, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from production.

Office Romance Cast

  • Jennifer Lopez (Selena, Kiss of the Spider Woman)
  • Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso, All of You)
  • Betty Gilpin (Nurse Jackie, GLOW)
  • Edward James Olmos (Selena, Battlestar Galactica)
  • Tony Hale (Toy Story 4, Inside Out 2)

  • Amy Sedaris (BoJack Horseman, Is This Thing On?)
  • Tony Plana (Three Amigos, Ugly Betty)
  • Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives, Good Trouble)
  • Jackie Sandler (The Wrong Missy, Happy Gilmore 2)
  • Donald Elise Watkins (Black Box, Fly Me to the Moon)
  • Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Frauds)
  • Natalie Ortega (Search Party)
  • Mary Wiseman (Marriage Story, Star Trek: Discovery)
  • Brian Gallivan (The McCarthys, Shrinking)
  • Ali Stroker (Echoes, Big Nate)

  • Lisa Gilroy (Scrubs, Very Important People)
