Crunchyroll confirmed today at Anime Expo in Los Angeles that the second season of the acclaimed animated fantasy series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will premiere in January 2026. The Frieren Season 2 announcement was accompanied by the exclusive global reveal of the first trailer for the latest season.
Crunchyroll has also acquired the worldwide streaming rights for the new season, excluding Asia but including India and the Indian Subcontinent, and will simulcast the series from Japan.
During the Anime Expo panel held at the Peacock Theater, guests included Chiaki Kobayashi, the Japanese voice actor for Stark, Producer Yuichiro Fukushi, and Composer Evan Call. They discussed their experiences working on the series and their anticipation for the upcoming season.
Fans can get ready for Frieren with its start-of-the-year release date.
Our critic called Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime of the year for 2024 and in their review of the first season said, “With 28 fantastic episodes in its first season, I could gush for another 3K words about this series. But some experiences are so transcendent that no words, let alone mine, can do them justice. So, if you love epic fantasy, watch this show. If you love gorgeous visuals and breathtaking music, watch this show.”
They continued, “When you find yourself tiring of the 8ooth isekai release and you just want a fantasy that doesn’t involve falling into another world, watch this show. If you love fantasy, you can use the experiences of a 1,000-year-old elf and make it relatable, which can make us question our own life choices. Watch this show. If you simply love great storytelling, watch Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. You won’t be sorry.”
