Ultron has arrived in Marvel Rivals, offering an aggressive kit that combines mobility, team sustain, and damage into a unique package that can be felt in his matches. But no one character is a team. If you want to make the most of the new support, you need characters that complement the Avengers‘ archenemy, capitalizing on what he brings to the table.
Ultron’s (Jim Meskimen, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6) kit can, thankfully, work with a wide assortment of teammates, offering helpful advantages in most situations. However, some characters will work especially well with Ultron. Important note: Iron Man won’t be mentioned in this list. There is a team-up ability between him and Ultron, so that recommendation shouldn’t be needed. With that out of the way, let’s see who feels like a great choice to complement the newest character.
4) Winter Soldier
Bucky Barnes is the quintessential frontline DPS in Marvel Rivals. But he’s not diving into the enemy backline on his own, nor is he with his backline taking long shots. He’s front and center, right where he can best appreciate Ultron’s aid.
The healing and bonus health that Ultron provides his teammates is just what Bucky needs to ensure his survival as he pulls enemies in and finishes them off. Rage of Ultron can also be used in tandem with Winter Soldier’s ultimate to make sure the former assassin doesn’t go down as he crashes upon his enemies again, and again, and again. Easy team wipes.
3) Invisible Woman
The first of two supports on our list, Invisible Woman, is set up to aid the metallic menace, but not in the way you may expect. While her shield can provide healing and cover for her new ally, she makes our list for how she can help you maximize his damage, rather than his survivability.
Aiming with Ultron can be a little tricky. Whether it’s keeping targets lined up for that second before his primary gives its big kick, or hitting the big volleys that fly from his ultimate, Rage of Ultron, his targeting isn’t the most intuitive. Luckily, both Invisible Woman Gravity Vortex and her ultimate alleviate some of her teammates’ struggles, since they both have slow effects incorporated into them.
Her ult goes even further to help Ultron by also obscuring enemies’ line of sight. This makes the flyer a little less vulnerable when lining up his shots while her ultimate is active.
2) Captain America
For a guy who’s been fighting for roughly 85 years, you’d think Steve Rogers would be easy to put down at this point. But as anyone who has tried to in Marvel Rivals can attest, the Living Legends still has plenty of life left in him. And Ultron doesn’t look like he’s going to make knocking him out of fights any easier.
Just like his war buddy Bucky, Captain America lives in a great space for Ultron’s life-extending buffs. Always in the middle of everything, but not off on his own for long, Cap provides the perfect target for Ultron’s drones to latch onto. His innate survivability was already ridiculous, and now he’s going to provide an even greater distraction as whole teams may need to focus fire to bring the unrelenting Super Soldier down.
1) Cloak & Dagger
While everyone on our list synergizes with Ultron, no one complements his kit better than Cloak & Dagger. Everything Ultron does, they strengthen, making them the obvious best support for him to pair up with. Whether it’s aiding his efforts or keeping him alive, the two-in-one hero has all the elements to help Ultron shine.
Firstly, the obvious, keeping Ultron alive. Since Dagger’s primary healing hones in on targets, she has no problem keeping the constantly moving ally topped up on health when needed. Dagger can even bounce her light-based projectiles around corners, ensuring that he gets the healing as soon as possible, even before he’s in line of sight.
But the biggest part of Dagger’s kit that makes her and Cloak the best supports to pair up with Ultron is her Light Wall. This ability not only heals allies it passes over, but also augments any other healing they receive for several seconds. So, if Dagger hits a group of characters receiving healing from Ultron’s drone, that healing is now amplified, making the results that much more effective.
The final element of their kit that Ultron loves to see comes from Cloak. His Terror Cape buffs the damage allies do against enemies the cape passes over, allowing him to do as much damage as possible. A well-timed veil as Rage of Ultron begins can melt even the heartiest heroes.
After a day playing with Ultron, these are the four characters that stand out as great compliments for him. I hope these suggestions help you to push payloads and capture points as you battle your way through the second half of the Hellfire Gala Season. Good luck, and have fun!
