What is Day of the Devs?

Established in 2012 by Double Fine Productions and iam8bit as a way to give back to their supportive communities, Day of the Devs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with the mission to celebrate the creativity, diversity, and magic of video games. In over ten years, the non-profit has evolved into a fully independent organization with the help of various collaborators, organizers, and partners to give a voice to emerging or underrepresented talent with platforms that connect players with developers and their games.

Day of the Devs takes the form of virtual and physical events—all completely free, with no costs to either developers or attendees. Since its inception, Day of the Devs has shined a spotlight on hundreds of games, hosted tens of thousands of people at in-person events, and reached out to millions of viewers through virtual showcases. Their focus on The Game Show Awards in December is just one of many virtual showcases they do.
