EA and Full Circle have been steadily building on the new skate. Since it launched in early access last year, this latest update shows they’re really listening to the ongoing feedback loop. While the free-to-play, live-service announcement naturally brought some skepticism when the game was first revealed, having zero barrier to entry makes it incredibly easy to just jump in and see how San Vansterdam is coming along for yourself.
Right now, dropping back in is more tempting than ever. Full Circle just launched an update that brings Nike SB into the fold and, more importantly, introduces a feature fans have been asking for since day one: night skating. The limited-time Nike SB Pop-Up event runs from today until May 5, transforming the Isle of Grom into a nighttime oasis.
I had the chance to check out a preview of this event early, and the shift in atmosphere is fantastic. There’s something incredibly grounding about shredding Grom under the moonlight. The lighting trades the bright, chaotic energy of a daytime server for a much cooler, laid-back aesthetic. With the sun down, the audio design really gets a chance to shine, too; the sharp crack of the tail popping on concrete and the grind of trucks on rails feel much more pronounced without the usual daytime background noise.
The latest Skate. update finally offers what we’ve all wanted – night skating.

It captures the exact feeling of those late-night, real-world sessions where you and your friends are just trying to land one last trick under the streetlights before heading home. It’s a great contrast to the San Vansterdam we’ve seen so far, and it just feels right.
Thankfully, this crossover goes beyond just slapping a logo on a halfpipe. The pop-up includes a complete Nike SB park takeover alongside a series of custom challenges heavily inspired by historic Nike SB skate videos, which should hit a very specific nostalgic sweet spot for anyone who grew up passing around physical skate DVDs. Completing these specific tasks rewards you with some solid free gear, including a pair of Nike SB Dunk Highs and Logo Socks.
If you want to dive deeper into the catalog, the in-game shop is now stocked with a massive variety of classic options. You can grab Dunk Low Pros, Zoom Blazer Mids, hoodies, and yes, baggy jorts, so you can put together a historically accurate 2000s skater fit. It’s a nice nod to the franchise’s legacy of keeping its apparel tied to authentic skate culture.
The Nike SB crossover is more than just adding a logo. No, it’s a takeover.

Because this is a live-service title, there is a slight catch to keep in mind. “Grom at Night” is completely free and open to all players from now until May 5. However, once the promotional event wraps up, accessing the night version of the island will require either a 24-hour San Van Water Taxi pass (purchased using the in-game Rip Chips currency) or the skate. Premium Pass.
Tying a time-of-day setting to premium currency or a battle pass is a monetization choice players definitely need to keep an eye on as the game evolves. Still, for the next few weeks, there is zero reason not to take advantage of the free access and enjoy the park.
Full Circle is showing they really want to build skate. alongside its player base. Adding night skating and integrating real-world brands like Nike SB proves they understand the culture this game needs to capture to survive in a live-service market. If you haven’t checked out the current build yet, this after-hours event is the perfect excuse to finally drop in.
skate. is currently in Early Access on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA app.
