If you love heist movies, how about a series? Creator of the Power Universe, Courtney A. Kemp, is bringing a new crime drama to Netflix. Nemesis, Kemp’s new series, promises a new world of high-stakes action, and fans of the series within the Power universe can tell how much Kemp loves action. The first series in Kemp and Netflix’s partnership, Nemesis, doesn’t just belong to Kemp; it was co-created with Tani Marole.

“Tani and I are excited to bring a hard-hitting psychological crime drama to Netflix, specific in location but broad in universal themes of right and wrong, love and loss, and loyalty vs. self-preservation,” Kemp said in the announcement published on TUDUM, the Netflix-owned blog used for announcements and interviews.

Mario Van Peebles (Baadasssss!, Outlaw Posse, Wu-Tang: An American Saga) is set to direct the first two episodes of Nemesis and will also serve as an executive producer. Chris Selak and Philipp Barnett will also executive produce.

What is Nemesis about?

Nemesis still from Netflix

Courtney A. Kemp is bringing audiences into a standoff between one cop and one heist mastermind. The series is going to fit right in with the Netflix Original series that have needed more love since the last international spinoff of Money Heist.

The official Netflix synopsis is:

Nemesis is the story of two men on different sides of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective). What starts as a subversion of the heist genre, amped by thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics, and explosive action, becomes an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.
