Digital Extremes hosted its monthly devstream for Soulframe. Viewers also got new insights into the ongoing closed Pre-Alpha playtest on PC, Soulframe Preludes, and its 11th update available now, including new weapon progression upgrades, highly-anticipated armour customization features, and fresh narrative expansions for featured characters like Verminia and Bromius.

Fans who become a Founder, themed around the first three Envoys—Galene, Pothia, and Josalfar—will receive instant access to the ongoing closed Pre-Alpha playtest, Soulframe Preludes, along with exclusive items and gear. Founders will also be able to invite several friends into the Preludes, and they are drawn weekly from the queue at random.

Preludes Update 11 Brings Key Progression and Customization

Alongside the Founder announcements, Digital Extremes gave players new insight into Soulframe Preludes Update 11, which is now live for those in the closed Pre-Alpha.

The latest patch introduces several key features that move the game closer to a broader release, including crucial weapon progression upgrades and highly anticipated armor customization options. The update also expands the narrative surrounding two featured characters, Verminita and Bromius.

Highlights of Soulframe Preludes 11 Update

Soulframe But Why Tho

In a release to the press, Digital Extremes shared what players can expect with the Soulframe Preludes 11 Update. You can find that below in their words:

The Waste Bear Fable: Venture deep into a new dungeon environment in a cinematic narrative Fable full of corrupted Sproutfolk enemies in need of cleansing. Thwart the manipulating Wazzard of Wastes and redeem the polluted Omen Beast, Bromius, from sinister corruption. To access this Fable, gather enough Sap around the overworld and bring it to Verminia in the Nightfold.

New Dungeon – The Neath’uns
Descend into the Neath’uns, vast root-caves choked with corrupting ichor. Purge ichor seepage to set the waters running clean, raise living root bridges to forge a path, and push through pockets of corrupted Sproutfolk, puzzles, and spiders. Entrances to the Neath’uns become available after completing The Waste Bear Fable.

New Character Pact, Weapon Set, and Armour
Upon completion of The Waste Bear Fable, forge a soulbinding Pact with Bromius to unlock three new abilities. Send out rows of thorny branches with Wevetroot, channel the might of the Ursus with a Rump Thump ground pound, or sing a Song of Growth to increase armour strength for nearby allies. Envoys may also forge weapon and armour sets inspired by Bromius in the form of a claw-like cleaver, Marrow’s Bane, as well as fuzzy, full-body plated Arbearer armour.

New Sub-Bosses
Encounter menacing mini-bosses across Alca’s lands, ranging from the outcast Ode’n soldier, Discharged Nimrod, clad in haunting ancient armour, Thrice-Bound Impidh, web-filled brood-queen, Etheldred The Weaver, corrupted Sproutfolk commander, Kabocha, stalking hunter, Gruul Seeker Ruthos, mendicant caster from the bogs, Wraith of Wastes, and loyal mace-wielder, Sinecure-Errant Gawth.

Armour Customization, Hues and Bestiching
The Ancestor Verminia, the Rat Witch, brings forth new ways to customize the Envoy’s aesthetics. Collect new Moonsteel and Figments resources from across Alca to brew vivid Hues or Bestitch new styles, capable of recoloring or transforming an Envoy’s armour appearance.

New Equipment Stat Progression, Runes and Totems
Rescue friendly fauna in need to obtain their Totems and defend the lands of Alca against new sub-bosses to take their Runes as a part of the latest weapon progression system. Lend a helping hand to beavers, deer, ducks, hares, rats, and squirrels to be rewarded with their Totem, a passive stat upgrade around three types: Attack, Defense, or Utility. Banish brutal sub-bosses now roaming the world to receive a Rune, capable of activating an elemental buff depending on its type, like Everflame, Archstorm, or Alca’s Breath for the equipped weapon.

New Starting Armour
Equip one of three exclusive armour sets for each of the starting Factions: Alca’s Children, Kith of Kings, and Silent Rose, based around each of their specialties – magicks, physical combat, and stealth.

Quality of Life Improvements:

  • Major loot table rebalancing across chests, enemies, and dungeons.
  • New VFX, UI, and auto-drop pickup systems.
  • Return of kicking, new dodge/block animations, and improved hit feedback.

What is Soulframe’s release date?

We don’t currently have a solid release date for Soulframe. However, during the devstream, the team promised more information regarding the exact timing and structure of the Soulframe Founder invitations soon, advising interested players to keep a close watch on future announcements.

To sign up for Soulframe Preludes, visit the official website. Players signing up for the access queue are randomly drawn weekly for Soulframe Preludes, Digital Extremes’ ongoing closed Pre-Alpha test available for PC.
