The leaders in prestige television, HBO, have announced that their new HBO Original drama series TASK, from Emmy-nominated creator Brad Ingelsby (known for Mare of Easttown), is set to debut on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. The seven-episode limited series will air weekly, adding a new Sunday series to the network’s line-up, replacing The Gilded Age in the time slot.
What is HBO Original, TASK about?
Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, the series follows an FBI agent, played by Mark Ruffalo, who is tasked with leading a task force to put a stop to a series of violent robberies. The investigation leads him to an unexpected suspect, an unassuming family man portrayed by Tom Pelphrey, who is the leader of the robbery ring.
The show explores the high-stakes conflict between the two men as the FBI agent grapples with his own past and the complexities of the case. The series promises a gritty and tense crime drama that delves into the lives of its characters.
