Get ready to revisit your most awkward (read: depressing) years. Hexecutable announced during Day of the Devs Summer Game Fest Edition that Consume Me, a new life sim RPG, is set to launch on PC and Mac on September 25, 2025. This single-player experience promises a darkly comedic dive into the tumultuous world of teenage angst. Having won big during GDC 2025 at the Independent Game Awards (Wings Award, Nuovo Award, Seamus McNally Grand Prize), it’s time for everyone else to jump in.

Developed by a collaborative team including Jenny Jiao Hsia, AP Thomson, Jie En Lee, Violet W-P, and Ken “coda” Snyder, Consume Me aims to tap into the universally uncomfortable experience of being a teenager. The developers boldly state: “Being a teenager sucks.

So we made a videogame about it.” Prepare for a trip down memory lane, whether you like it or not, as the game explores the pressures from parents, friends, and society that conspire to make you feel “ugly, lazy, stupid, and unloved.”

What is Consume Me?

In Consume Me, players step into the shoes of Jenny, a high school senior balancing new love with the demanding realities of her final academic year. The gameplay centers around meticulous scheduling decisions designed to maximize Jenny’s “glow-up.”

Expect a puzzle game of dieting, where balancing your intake is key, and strategic evasion of distractions to achieve scholarly success. You’ll even be able to earn money from your in-game mom through chores, albeit at a rate that sounds suspiciously below minimum wage.

The game’s core revolves around a series of pressing questions: Can you win and keep the affection of your dream boy? Can you carve out a sustainable future? How many goals can you cram onto your plate before it all collapses? And perhaps most profoundly, does any of this truly matter?

The developers offer a cryptic hint for those willing to spend a little in-game cash: a coffee from the corner store can grant an extra “free-time unit.”

Key Features Shared By The Devs That Will Make You Laugh (and Maybe Cry)

Day of the Devs SGF Edition 2025 - Consume Me promotional image

  • A Darkly Funny Coming-of-Age Story: Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions. The developers warn players to expect laughter, tears, and even a bit of hunger, sometimes all at once.
  • Every Meal a Puzzle: Dieting in Consume Me isn’t just a concept; it’s a strategic mini-game. Players must carefully manage their food intake, avoiding both overeating and undereating. And if you don’t want it, your in-game dog is apparently happy to be your food disposal.
  • Gripping Strategic Decision Making: With limited time and an overwhelming number of tasks, players will constantly face the ultimate strategic question: How should Jenny spend her precious time? This daily dilemma is central to the gameplay loop.
  • Obtain Powerful Equipment: Success in Consume Me isn’t just about grades and relationships; it’s also about looking the part. Players can acquire various “garments” to aid their journey, but be warned: this “armor” degrades after a single day and requires the “ancient ritual” of laundry to renew.
  • Over 13 Possible Endings: Consume Me promises more than a dozen different conclusions for those who crave replayability and diverse outcomes. Just don’t expect too many happy ones.

Consume Me releases on PC and Mac on September 25, 2025.
