Disney+ has been expanding its Korean Drama library consistently internationally and on Hulu in the United States. Like their streaming counterparts, many of those new titles are live-action adaptations of Korean webtoons. Now, production has begun on Delusion, currently the working title for the series. The new series is an upcoming live-action adaptation of the hit Naver webtoon of the same name, set to release exclusively on the streamer’s platforms.
Delusion will invite audiences into the world first explored in the hit webtoon as they follow Song Jeong-hwa, a vampire in mourning for a love lost decades before. Resigned to live an empty existence, Jeonghwa is surprised when Iho, a painter with a past, shows up and stirs something within her.
The series will star Bae Suzy (Start-Up, ANNA) in the lead role as heartbroken vampire Song Jeonghwa. Kim Seon-ho (TheChilde, When Life Gives You Tangerines) has also been cast as her love interest, Iho the painter. The two lead actors previously starred together in Start-Up. Director Han Jaerim (The Face Reader, The 8 Show), whose hit Netflix Original series The 8 Show was one of our top K-Dramas of 2024, is set to direct the live-action Delusion.
Delusion is the latest series to be announced as part of Disney’s slate of upcoming Korean content set to be released on Disney+. Fans of unmissable storytelling can also look forward to Low Life, starring Ryu Seung-ryong; Tempest, starring Jun Gianna and Gang Dong-won; and Made In Korea, starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung.
