Pony Canyon, Inc., is here delivering the holiday cheer with a brand-new trailer drop for their upcoming anime, Me and the Alien Mumu. Inside the trailer, you can meet the ever-adventurous and ambitious Mumu and Decimaru and Sakurako and Akihiro tackling their daily lives on planet Earth. If you don’t immediately love Mumu by the end of the trailer, you seriously need to question if you have a heart.

Additionally, new cast and staff announcements were made, with the promise of more to follow. To say that the cast is positively excited about being part of the project is an understatement, but voice actor Yukiyo Fujii perfectly sums up what makes the series so magical for all involved:

“Me and the Alien MuMu is this totally unpredictable mix of super-spectacular sci-fi, home appliances, and cat comedy, but it’s so perfectly funny! Thanks to the little home appliance tips I learned from MuMu, I was able to get a great deal on a new washing machine! We use home appliances every day without thinking much about them, but when you dive deeper, there are so many fun new discoveries to be made.

After watching MuMu, you might find yourself becoming a home appliance expert, and you’ll probably want to tell someone all about it! Come join us and enjoy the unique world of Alien MuMu!”

From the humor to the deep dive into home appliances, Me and the Alien MuMu is expected to be a grand time. There’s no official date yet for when the anime will stream, but keep your eyes out for more news in the new year. The series is expected to drop sometime in 2025.

What is Me and the Alien MuMu about?

Pony Canyon, Inc., has released the official synopsis for the series along with the trailer:

A cat-like alien from a distant galaxy, MuMu, arrives on Earth. His goal is to learn about home appliance technology on Earth to recover the technology his species has lost. The protagonist, Sakurako, has a typical university life, but everything changes with MuMu’s arrival! What begins as an unexpected cohabitation quickly turns into a whirlwind of chaotic events. The chemistry between Sakurako and MuMu leads to a super-spectacular, appliance-filled, and cat comedy adventure.

Based on the synopsis alone, the series is sure to be adorable as heck. A coming-of-age tale combined with cat-related shenanigans and then some? That all sounds like a perfect pairing in anime comedy heaven. And the voice cast will bring together with their earnestness and boundless energy.
