Just in time for the holiday season, Niantic, Inc. has announced the next season coming to Pokémon GO. Following Pokémon GO’s jam-packed Max Out season with Dynamax, Gigantamax, and Halloween events, the next season, titled Dual Destiny, is sure to keep players on their toes with its multiple features. From December 3, 2024, until March 4, 2025, players will witness the return of the Trainer-favorite event Pokémon GO Tour, new epic Max Battles, and more Pokémon originally discovered in the Galar region while playing Dual Destiny.

What’s Coming With Dual Destiny

Changing Seasons

Seasons will change with the passage of time, allowing for different seasonally-themed Pokémon and bonuses to appear throughout the world. With the latest season taking the course over several months, this will allow further immersion in the world for players while expanding the range and inclusion of Pokémon within the game’s database.

At the start of the season, the Winter Holiday Map will take over as Trainers can look to discover all the possible unique screens. Explore the universe during the holiday season. Use this opportunity to find and log the various Pokémon available during the Seasonal Rotation.

Even More Max Battles

Gigantamax Pokémon have been emerging in the world of Pokémon GO in special events for some time, and the latest seasonal update proves to be no exception. Both Fighter-Type Machop and Water-Type Krabby make their Dynamax debut in the upcoming season.

Gigantamax Lapras will now appear in Max Raids, so Trainers will need to power up and work together to take down the gentle giant at nearby Power Spots. Experience a combination of wonder and fear with the arrival of these Dynamax editions of these creatures.

You can find them at mysterious new Power Spots being discovered across the globe. Rally your friends to take on new Max Battles, catch these gargantuan Pokémon, and unlock the power of Max Particles. Just when you thought the game couldn’t get more exciting, these latest Max Battles additions will surely keep your adrenalin pumping.

More Regis and More Pokémon from the Galar Region Debut

Watch out for Shadow Raids during Dual Destiny!

One-star and three-star Shadow Raids will be available daily, while five-star Shadow Raids will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, unless otherwise noted.

Also, Shadow Regirock, Shadow Regice, and Shadow Registeel will leap into five-star Shadow Raids throughout Dual Destiny! Both Sinistea and Polteageist make their Pokémon GO debut as part of Dual Destiny.

You may even encounter Shiny ones for the first time in Pokémon GO—if you’re lucky! This also extends to the seasonal Pokémon on rotation. The Shiny Ones add an extra dose of magic this holiday season for players to discover.

Community Days

Mark these dates on your calendars. Players should keep an eye out for several community days across this season. In December, the community event takes place on December 21-22, 2024. In 2025, the community dates will be January 5th, January 25th, and February 9th. Don’t miss out on these days. You don’t know what surprises will be in store for participating players.

Eggs-pedition Access

Every month during Dual Destiny, Trainers will be able to purchase a new ticketed experience that includes bonuses and Timed Research! Trainers will also receive an Incubator with their first PokéStop or Gym Photo Disc spin every day!

Be sure to check out the web store and in-game shop regularly. You never know what you may find!

Pokémon GO Tour: Unova

In 2025, Niantic invites Trainers to experience two exclusive Pokémon GO in-person events taking place in Los Angeles and New Taipei City. Stay tuned for more details on Pokémon GO Tour: Unova coming very soon.

GO League Battles

Pokémon are ready to battle in the Fantasy Cup, Holiday Cup, Love Cup, and more.

Dual Destiny takes place in Pokémon GO from December 3, 2024, until March 4, 2025.
