Uncapped Games released a behind-the-scenes documentary on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube, showcasing its philosophies around the real-time strategy (RTS) genre. In the 30-minute behind-the-scenes documentary, the studio goes into detail on plans to challenge the assumptions around RTS and create a game that appeals to a wider audience of RTS, MOBA, and strategy game fans while maintaining all the depth and infinite replayability that has enthralled RTS enthusiasts for decades. But we don’t know what the studio is working on just yet. The full reveal of the new RTS will come at the Summer Game Fest on June 7, 2024.

“Our game concentrates on the core essence of this genre and gets players to the fun of RTS more quickly than ever before,” said David Kim, senior game director of Uncapped Games. “Players will define their own way to play, and focus on commanding fast-paced, large-scale battles. Players will enjoy more moment-to-moment strategic decision-making in each game instead of waiting for that next fun action moment.”

The documentary explains how deep the RTS roots in California go, but more importantly how the team at Uncapped Games has been shaped by the genre. And now, they’re looking to inject something new into the genre. Established in mid 2021, Uncapped Games is comprised of passionate developers who have shipped RTS games from award-winning franchises, including StarCraft, Warcraft, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, and more. Based in Playa Vista, CA, Uncapped Games is a flagship studio of Lightspeed Studios, a global game development group with teams across the world.

With a veteran team of developers who deeply know RTS, they’re looking to update the dated elements of the RTS genre and finesse the things that have made this genre so beloved by its players.

Uncapped Games’ unannounced RTS will debut in Summer Game Fest on June 7, 2024. Watch for our coverage this Summer.

Redefining the Game: A Paradigm Shift for the RTS Genre

Our ambition is to create a paradigm shift for the RTS (real-time strategy) genre that today’s fans of RTS, MOBA & strategy games can all enjoy, while maintaining all the depth and infinite gameplay that old school fans love.
