Apple TV+ continues its dedication to sports media with the newly announced Major League Soccer docuseries. The streaming service offers a new-before-seen insider’s view of the upcoming 2024 season.
Currently in production, the eight-part, panoramic documentary event is a combined effort between Apple TV+ and Major League Soccer (MLS). The series will cover the world of soccer in North America. It is produced in partnership with Box to Box Films (Make or Break, Formula 1: Drive to Survive.) The goal is to shine a brighter spotlight on the highs of the 2024 season. This will offer greater access to players, coaches, and teams. The series will cover everything from the pre-season to the 2024 MLS Cup Final.
Currently untitled, the upcoming Major League Soccer docuseries follows on the heels of Apple’s six-part Messi Meets America. The insightful Messi Meets America delivers behind-the-scenes footage of Lionel Messi following his debut in the League Cup and Major League Soccer in 2023. The upcoming Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend covers Messi’s career with the Argentina national team and his five FIFA World Cup appearances.
Producers for the series include Academy Award and BAFTA Award winner James Gay-Rees (Senna,) Emmy Award winner Paul Martin (Make or Break,) and Warren Smith (Full Swing.)
The Major League Soccer series seeks to fully immerse fans in the energy of the sport. This is only the latest in Apple’s commitment to sports documentary series. Others include the upcoming The Dynasty: New England Patriots, an untitled film on the life and career of Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, the Emmy-nominated They Call Me Magic, and more.
There is no current release date for the untitled Major League Soccer series.
