Ubisoft’s The Crew Motorfest is raising the bar in its newest season of car racing fun. This time, they are bringing just over three months of extreme car action thanks to their partnership with Hoonigan. If you haven’t heard of Hoonigan before, they are the team that mods cars to do extreme drifts, rally races, and stunts in series like Gymkhana, This vs. That, and build breakdowns on YouTube. This season doesn’t just bring the classic Hoonicorn, the new Audi S1 Hoonitron, and more well-known cars to the game with more of the same. This season brings so much more with experiences you’ve probably never done in an open-world racing game.
Gymkhana Grid Park
Throughout the ages, gamers have found ways to pull off amazing stunts in car games that make the stunts look like they’re riding a skateboard. Hoonigan brought a playground to The Crew Motorfest to do just that. The Hoonigan Playground is a new island attached to O’ahu that you can drive around full of ramps, grind rails, and obstacles to drift around to your heart’s content. It is literally a skatepark for cars! Driving around the playground, you’ll find all kinds of unique ways to pull off awesome tricks that before you needed to find the perfect spot on a map to pull off. Plus, it’s the perfect location to improve your skills with drifting, rallying, and car control in a place that some master drift racers helped design for the game.
Gymkhana Grid Masters
One of the big things Hoonigan is known for is their Gymkhana series, a racing event where drivers get through a course as fast as possible while having to do lots of tricks through it. To get through one of these races, you’ll need to perform quick drifts, 360-degree spins, reversals, and jumps, to name a few of the wild stuff you need to pull off in a car. Ubisoft added a brand new playlist for Season 2 to teach you all the ins and outs of Gymkhana racing led by Hoonigan co-founder Brian Scotto. Brian will be in your ear and introduce each of the ten new events to teach you how to push your car to its limit to win Gymkhana events. After playing several events, my drifting skills have drastically improved because the game taught me how to drift, not wing it and hope for the best like most open-world driving games.
New Season, New Cars
Every month in the new season will focus on a major aspect of Hoonigan racing, Street driving, performance, and racing. On top of that, each week will bring a new car to the mix, including nine Hoonigan-branded vehicles, some of which have never been seen before until this game. Every Main Stage event, from This vs That, drifting events, and Gymkhana/Hoongian-specific events, will teach you to become a gymkhana master when March rolls around.
Most importantly, Season 2 shows Ubisoft Ivory Tower’s commitment to The Crew Motorfest, showing just how much new content fans can expect every season. New races, events, locales, and more every season to raise the bar further and further.
