Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2 follows up on Denia (Jodie Bell Cortez) as her condition remains critical after her confrontation with Rover (Jane Jackson, Arknights Endfield) and Hyuki (Mei Mac, The War Between the Land and the Sea). To gain the girl’s help in understanding the Grand Architect’s plans, Rover agrees to spend a day with her. A day that takes some unexpected turns.
Grief is at the center of this story. Due to circumstances outside her control, her time at Startorch Academy is running out. But when your every social interaction is built on lies, how do you express yourself to those you care about now, when there is no time to rebuild anything meaningful from the ashes left by your forced dishonesty?
How Denia walks through the debris of her past and says goodbye to what she nearly had strikes every emotional cord in the human heart. She’s not equipped to handle all the pain she is forced to process, and doesn’t even have the basic skills or knowledge to even know where to start trying. So instead, she falls back on what she knows. She lies.
Denia is a major focus of Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2.

Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2 hits its emotional high point when Rover and Denia’s day out brings them to a meeting with Sigrika (Maya Lindh, Final Fantasy XVI). Seeing the manipulated girl try to share meaningful moments with “Siggy” while also desperately wanting to shield her from more pain is gut-wrenching. Especially since the dual implementation of animation and voice work makes it perfectly clear that Sigrika is fully aware that Denia is hiding some painful truths from her.
That both girls desperately want to reach out, but neither knows how, and both want to respect and support the other’s decisions, makes the awkwardness of their meeting painfully potent. The fact that some fleeting moments of true joy weave their way into the sequence only serves to showcase how much more happiness could’ve been, if only the world were different.
This sequence’s painful crescendo is accompanied by one of the best musical choices the game has yet to pair with a major scene. The lone notes of the piano linger in the air as Denia struggles with what she is facing. The beautifully clear notes bring tenderness, while still accentuating the haunting feeling that terrible things stalk the poor girl.
Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2’s story gets emotional.

Once Denia’s concealed goodbyes are done, Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2 takes a surprising turn as she strikes off on her own to take care of a lingering problem for Lahai-Roi. We learn more about her childhood and what was done to her, within the context of one of the scariest gaming sequences I’ve played in a long time.
It’s not unusual for a game to stumble when it decides to incorporate a gameplay type outside its wheelhouse. Horror is a particularly hard element to work in, as so much atmosphere, tone, and execution must come together to make it land. Well, land here it does.
The monstrous presence that stalks Denia through her solo journey is menacing and unnerving. The animation brings it to life with a disjointed effectiveness that makes everything about the threat reek of unnaturalness that cannot help but create discomfort. The atmosphere is built up incredibly, with expert lighting and area designs working together to force the player to confront the danger under the most effective circumstances.
But the best part of this entire sequence is the sounds of the creatures. The unearthly scuttling you hear whenever one of the monsters is closing in is sound design perfection! It crawls up your spine and leaves shivers across your body. A true masterclass of audio design.
Denia’s side story isn’t easy to forget.

Denia’s final destination feels like the culmination of emotional buildup that has been happening with several of the region’s characters. Starting with Lynae, increasing with Aemeath, and crescendoing with Denia, we’ve seen Kuro Games create greater and longer-lasting consequences for its characters, as their decisions and past push them to take drastic actions. An incredible emotional throughline that underpins what has helped the current plot stand out.
Denia’s story is the star of Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2, but those getting to pull the character now that she is available are in for a fun gameplay experience as well. Her kit is straightforward, and her moves play out through gorgeous animations. Her transformed state is striking, and the terrain effect she leaves is impressively implemented, as it carves a temporary tacet mark into the earth she fights on.
Wuthering Waves 3.3 Part 2 delivers another incredible and emotional beat for the Lahai-Roi Arc. Denia’s journey has been one that twists and reshapes the character’s expectations through several updates, bringing the background personality into the limelight for a moment that fans will not soon forget. Combine the deep emotional storytelling with excellently executed horror elements, and this side story will be one that many will hold up alongside some of the game’s biggest core plot beats.
