Daybreak Game Company and Cold Iron Studios are bringing Alien into video games again. In collaboration with 20th Century Games, the three game companies have announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. The sequel to the cooperative third-person survival shooter set in the Alien universe, Fireteam Elite 2, is scheduled for worldwide release sometime this summer on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, the Epic Games Store, and PC.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite was originally released in 2021 and was published through Focu Entertainment. With over 14,000 “very positive” Steam reviews, the game asked players to battle through hordes of different types of Xenomorph, all while customizing their character and gear.

“With Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, we’re doubling down on the action and the terror, delivering an experience worthy of the Alien franchise,” said Chris Cross, Game Director on Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, in a release to press.
The quote continued, “We are all massive fans of the franchise, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to craft a sequel to Aliens: Fireteam Elite, a game that successfully brought to life the fantasy of colonial marines facing off against the iconic and terrifying xenomorphs. This sequel expands the action to four players, introduces new character classes including a fully customizable Specialist, and takes the fight to immersive new environments across the Aliens universe.”
With the 40th anniversary of the franchise happening this year, the game’s announcement comes at a great time for the Alien fandom. This sequel isn’t the only Alien game on the horizon, with Alien: Isolation 2 and Alien Deathstorm already in development.
What is Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 about?
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 expands the fight to four-player co-op, expanding the original game’s co-op possibilities. Much like the original, the game drops players into the most dangerous corners of the Aliens universe as a fireteam of hardened colonial marines.
With the official synopsis saying, “What begins as a rescue mission quickly spirals into a desperate fight for survival. Xenomorphs stalk the corridors, ambush from the shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers. Pathogen horrors and Weyland-Yutani combat synths add new layers of threat.”
With horde clearing still the primary focus of this game, players will have to coordinate with their team, leverage all new classes, and adapt to escalating circumstances. With the expansion of the party size, it’s only natural that Cold Iron Studios would also add deeper squad mechanics, weapons, and a new Specialist class.
Cold Iron Studios also promises that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will offer deep customization, with players able to mix and match weapons, abilities, and classes to suit a wide range of playstyles to create their best colonial marine loadout.

When is the release date?
The game does not currently have a concrete release date, but the release window has been set for sometime in Summer 2026.
