Set sails for the Caribbean, because Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is coming July 9th, 2026. A complete rebuild of the beloved original 2013 action-adventure game in Ubisoft’s latest Anvil engine, players will be able to relive the life of pirate/assassin Edward Kenway with fantastically updated visuals and streamlined gameplay.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced follows Edward Kenway as he rises through the intermingled worlds of pirates and Assassins in the 18th century’s Golden Age of Piracy. Through famous outposts like Havana, Kingston, and Nassau, and all the high seas in between, the pirate adventure of a lifetime awaits.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is “Not an RPG.”

With over a decade and just as many newer Assassin’s Creed titles behind us since the original Black Flag was released, Black Flag Resynced removes the cumbersome multiplayer, streamlines the modern-day story to a minimum, forgoes the DLC, and brings the graphics and gameplay up to a modern standard. From what has been previewed so far, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced may well be the prettiest game in the series yet, with stunningly-realized ocean waves and pristine beaches.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced serves primarily as a faithful reiteration of the original game, its story, and its protagonist, Edward, as well as his pirate companions like Anne Bonny, Charles Vane, and, of course, Black Beard. The devs have been quite specific to reiterate that their primary focus with this remake was to remain faithful to what fans loved in the original game, while adding some new quests and features.
Ubisoft is also adamant that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is “not an RPG.” It is described instead as a “solo adventure and character-driven experience.” While no specifics were offered about the distinction, it can be surmised that players will have a gameplay experience more akin to the original game than to the more sprawling RPG-style games in the series, like Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Combat and stealth systems have been majorly upgraded from the original release.

The combat has been updated to the action-oriented style now familiar in recent Assassin’s Creed titles, rather than the clunky parry/chain-kill system from the original release. However, only time will tell exactly what other modernizations are included in this title.
What is clear, is that a whole group of new allies will be introduced in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. There are three new officers aboard your ship, the Jackdaw, Lucy Baldwin, The Padre, and Deadman Smith. They will each bring new storylines and unlockable ship enhancements that did not exist in the original game.
The stealth system has also been updated substantially over the original game to match modern Assassin’s Creed expectations. Free crouching and other stealth and parquore measures help you stay hidden or escape conflict. Plus, the game no longer desyncs when an eavesdrop or tail mission fails. Instead, like in recent franchise entries, you are dropped into combat and must find another way through your mission.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Collector’s Edition includes a figurine, map, and more.

And of course, all of your favorite sea shanties, a whole host of new ones, and new music from Woodkid will alight your journey on the Jackdaw across the Caribbean. New pets, like cats and monkeys, might join your crew as weather and waves impact your navigation more intricately than ever.
Black Flag faithfuls can pre-order a special Collector’s Edition, which includes a large Edward figurine, Kenway’s journal, a brooch, a cloth map, and more. It’s the first step into what looks like it may truly be the remake fans have been waiting for.
