PS5’s Icon Blue DualSense Celebrates Its Blue History

The PS5 is no stranger to new color variants for its DualSense controllers, with the latest one being a callback to its history. From the classic white to the multiple space-like color variants to character-specific celebrations like the Astro Bot controller, each one stands out in its own way.

The Dualsense has been one of the best parts of the PS5 generation, an actual next gen controller. The haptics bring the player closer than ever before, especially in titles like Ghost of Yotei, where you can feel the terrain change as the controller rattles away. The dynamic adaptive triggers similarly add a more tactile feel to taking shots in The Last of Us Part One, where each gun or weapon has a different trigger fee, some taking more effort than others.

The Icon Blue Special Edition DuelSense celebrates PlayStation’s history.

Icon Blue Dualsense Japanese

The Icon Blue Special Edition has multiple different shades of blue, celebrating the blue colors the console line is known for. It looks fantastic, mixing shades of matte and glossy blue to make a controller that looks beautiful and striking. From the glow on the PS4 and PS5 controllers to the blue clouds on the PS2 launch screen, the Icon Blue Dualsense celebrates the color that PlayStation has made part of its identity.

The iconic PlayStation symbols are also etched across the touchpad. Across the back, PlayStation added Katakana characters that spell out PlayStation in Japanese. It’s reminiscent of the PlayStation 1 Debug Station, which sported a very similar shade of blue. It’s a great niche callback to the original console, a fun easter egg for fans who’ve been along for the ride since the beginning.

The Icon Blue Special Edition is a great addition to the controller variant lineup.

Icon Blue and Astro Bot Dualsense

The Icon Blue Special Edition is a fantastic color variant for the Dualsense, one that celebrates PlayStation’s identity and history. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite special editions, alongside the Astro Bot and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 variants. It drops at the perfect time, a great holiday gift for any PlayStation fan.

The Icon Blue Special Edition is out now in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Chile, available exclusively at Walmart.
