Get in the robot! An official Evangelion video game is on the way. Pixelity Inc. announced that it is officially bringing the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion to life in a new game project, now with an official title: EVANGELION: Δ Cross Reflections. But that’s not all! This title announcement isn’t just for one game, but for three.

EVANGELION: Δ Cross Reflections will be a trilogy that places players directly in the anime’s universe, utilizing cutting-edge virtual and mixed reality technology. The first installment of the trilogy will cover events from episodes 1 to 11 of the original TV series, while the others will cover the rest of the series.

Beloved by fans and revered by critics, Neon Genesis Evangelion is a series that has stood the test of time. The series from Hideaki Anno has found its way into video games before, through collaborations, but it hasn’t had the long-standing gaming presence of other mecha franchises, such as Gundam. However, with releases, movies, and the Rebuild series, along with a theme song that gets people going with “Cruel Angel’s Thesis,” its cultural impact is unmatched.

What is EVANGELION: Δ Cross Reflections about?

The End of Evangelion - Evangelion video game - Evangelion: Cross Reflections

The game introduces players as a new trainee aiming to become NERV staff, with the dream of one day becoming a pilot. The narrative unfolds from your first-person perspective, intricately weaving a new, original story with key moments and locations from the anime.

While other anime games allow you to relive key moments as the characters, this Evangelion video game will allow you to experience them as your own character. Fans can expect to revisit familiar scenes while encountering original characters with their own backstories and motives, all of which connect to the main narrative.

EVANGELION: Δ Cross Reflections Key Features
  • VR and Mixed Reality: The game leverages advanced VR and mixed reality (MR) technology to create a truly immersive experience, putting players directly into the world of Evangelion.
  • New Narrative: Set within the timeline of the original 26-episode anime, the game introduces a new story featuring original characters and their hidden motives, all from the player-protagonist’s perspective.
  • Familiar Battles: Players will get to experience intense battles between Evangelions and Angels, along with other interactive elements from the series.
  • Trilogy Project: This first title, EVANGELION: Δ Cross Reflections, is planned as the start of a three-part series, focusing on the events from episodes 1 through 11 of the anime.

What is the Evangelion video game’s release date?

EVANGELION: Δ Cross Reflections doesn’t currently have a set release date, but its announcement came with a wide release window for some time in 2026; however, platforms have yet to be announced. However, if you want to play the game before its release, the developers have also shared that a special demo version is scheduled to be revealed in the first half of 2026. This demo will provide a hands-on experience of the in-game content, giving fans an early taste of the world.
