Hulu has released the teaser trailer and first look images for its new Korean original series, Tempest, announcing a September 10, 2025, release date. The spy thriller features an international cast including Gianna Jun, Gang Dongwon, and John Cho. The series will debut with three episodes on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.

Tempest is a high-stakes political thriller that explores a multinational conspiracy following an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. The series centers on Seo Munju, a skilled former diplomat, as she uncovers a web of deception and state secrets while investigating the attack.

Paik Sanho, a mercenary with a mysterious past and powerful backers, protects her. As Munju delves deeper, she finds herself under constant threat, revealing an international plot that reaches as far as the White House. The series promises to deliver intense action and espionage with a plot that threatens the stability of the Korean peninsula.

The series is directed by Kim Heewon, known for her work on Netflix series Queen of Tears and Vincenzo. About Queen of Tears, our critic said: “Sometimes unwieldy but always entertaining, Queen of Tears is already leading the pack for best drama of the year. With a little bit of something for everyone, this is one you’ll cry at, cheer for, and pause to catch your breath. An absolute treat.”

Director Kim is joined by co-director Heo Myeonghaeng, a leading martial arts director who worked on The Round-Up Punishment and Badland Hunters. The screenplay was written by Chung Seokyung, whose credits include the critically acclaimed Park Chan-wook-directed film, Decision to Leave, and Little Women. Imaginus produces the series in association with Showrunners, AA, and Skydance.
