NIS America announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon, the latest installment in Nihon Falcom’s long-running RPG series, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. This new platform addition joins the previously confirmed Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG). All platforms are now set for a simultaneous launch in January 2026.

“I’m excited to announce that the latest entry in Nihon Falcom’s Trails series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon, will also be released on Nintendo Switch 2,” said Nihon Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo in a release to media. “With the power of the Nintendo Switch 2, we expect players to have an even more enjoyable experience. In fact, this will mark the debut of the Trails series on the Nintendo Switch 2, and I personally have high expectations for it. Please continue to look forward to the release!”

What is The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon?

The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon sees the return of Van Arkride and the Arkride Solutions team. This time, the future of the entire Zemurian continent hangs in the balance as humanity prepares for its first foray into space.

A sudden invitation from Marduk for a high-tech training exercise sends Van, along with Ashen Chevalier, Rean Schwarzer, and Father Kevin Graham, on a collision course with deep-seated secrets within Zemuria. While their paths may diverge, the central mystery remains: what truly lies beyond the edge of the horizon?

Highlighted Game Features from NIS America:
  • All Trails Lead Here: Paths from across Zemuria intertwine with higher stakes than ever before as the Trails series enters its final chapter!
  • Gameplay, Evolved: New gameplay mechanics such as Shard Commands, Awakening, and the time-freezing Z.O.C. give you an unprecedented amount of options in both Field and Command Battles!
  • Dream Teams: Gather allies from all over Calvard and beyond and put a stop to Ouroboros’ machinations in the Grim Garten, a dungeon that you can take on with your own custom party!

Pre-orders for a NIS Online Store exclusive Limited Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 version are now available for $109.99. Limited Editions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 are also available.
