With the highly anticipated third installment in the Rian Johnson-created mystery franchise, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Netflix is set to unravel Benoit Blanc’s most perilous case yet. The streamer announced today that the film will premiere globally on December 12, 2025.

The release date reveal, which debuted at Tudum LIVE, offered a tantalizing glimpse of Daniel Craig reprising his role as the impeccably dressed, Southern-fried detective, surrounded by an all-new, star-studded ensemble of potential suspects. While retaining Johnson’s signature intricate plotting, this new chapter promises a distinctly darker tone than its predecessors.

What is Wake Up Dead Man About?

Wake Up Dead Man will see Blanc tackling a fresh murder mystery in an as-yet-undisclosed setting, surrounded by a vibrant new cast of characters. Details regarding Blanc’s next assignment remain tightly under wraps, hinted at only by a prominent coffin featured in the date announcement video, while describing it as “his most dangerous case yet.”

  • Josh O’Connor (Challengers, The Crown)
  • Glenn Close (Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction)
  • Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Dune)
  • Mila Kunis (Black Swan, Luckiest Girl Alive)

  • Cailee Spaeny (Civil War, Priscilla)
  • Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande; Peaky Blinders)
  • Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, Spider-Man 3)
