X-Men: The Animated Series is a favorite amongst 90s animation fans. Running from 1992 until 1997, the animation isn’t up to par with other series of its era. That said, the series gave the spotlight to many favored X-Men characters, giving it its cult status. Now, Marvel Studios Animation is reviving the series as X-Men ‘97. The first trailer has been released.
Created by Beau DeMayo, the series picks up where the original series left off. Charles Xavier has died, and his team of X-Men must step up. DeMayo serves as the head writer. Adding to the nostalgia factor, some of the original voice actors will return to reprise their roles, such as Cal Dodd as Wolverine. This is the most recent animated project from Marvel. The studio has previously released the alternative timeline based What If? That style of animation is present in X-Men ‘97, too.
