Now that Andy and Fuko have officially joined the Union, Undead Unluck Episode 6, titled “Spoil,” sends them on their first big quest. The duo has a full understanding of how the Union works now, but both are still determined to use their new access for their own goals.

Undead Unluck Episode 6 brings our unlikely duo to the desert of Nevada, where they are tasked with hunting down the enemy Spoil. Spoil’s ability infects others and turns them into zombies, making this an all-out zombie-killing adventure. The zombies are currently locked behind the walls in a town called Longing, where Andy and Fuko are headed alongside Shen to take them out.

One of the biggest questions the series has asked so far is why each character is motivated to do what they do. Undead Unluck Episode 6 presents a great scene where, when faced with how tough the challenge ahead is going to be, Fuko talks about why she thinks completing this mission can help Andy. It shows her selflessness even in the face of danger.

That selflessness is what makes Fuko so special, especially in contrast to Andy and Shen. While the others are quick to recklessly jump into the fight, Fuko does not have that same luxury. In fact, she is basically useless other than when Andy uses her ability to bring misfortune to their enemies. Still, the fact that she has no qualms about pushing ahead shows how caring of a person she is and how determined she is to help even if it might seem impossible.

Undead Unluck Episode 6 - But Why Tho(2)

Given that Undead Unluck Episode 6 features a giant horde of zombies, it is fitting that the action continues to impress. Andy shows off some new moves as he uses his Undead ability to almost effortlessly wipe out countless zombies and rain blood and destruction. Watching him in action is so fun and it’s impossible to look away. The only real downside to these epic moments is that they always feel too short, it would be nice to see even more action given how good it is.

Undead Unluck Episode 6 spends a fair amount of time focusing on exposition, something that runs the risk of viewers losing interest. Fuko and Andy have to learn about Spoil so it makes sense that there would be a fair amount of time spent just learning and explaining things. Viewers need to understand what is going on, and it is done in a way that fits the characters as well.

Thankfully, there is a fair balance between giving new information on the world, showcasing the incredible action, and sprinkling in comedy in a way that brings it all together. One of the ways the group is going to track down Spoil is by Andy talking to one of the zombies after he has been infected and, in true Andy fashion, he agrees to marry the zombie in exchange for information on Spoil. It encapsulates how well the series balances exposition with comedic delivery to keep things fresh for viewers.

Undead Unluck Episode 6 delivers a brilliant combo of storytelling and action as the series continues to stand out among the very best this season. There are breathtaking fight sequences and harrowing dramatic moments that make this one of the best.

Undead Unluck Season 1 is streaming now on Hulu.
