AMC’s anime streaming service, HIDIVE, is getting even more licenses. HIDIVE announced that Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling is the newest addition to its slate for Winter 2026, which begins in January. The new series is directed by Yuta Takamura and assistant Nobuyoshi Arai, along with series composition by Tatsuhiko Urahata and animation production by Studio FelixFilm.

“We’re excited to add the new isekai fantasy series Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling to HIDIVE’s Winter 2026 line-up,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE, in a press release. “We can’t wait for fans to watch the anime adaptation and experience this long-running light novel series in a whole new way. Whether you are new to isekai and fantasy or a long-time fan of these genres, you will not want to miss Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling and its premiere in January!”

The series is an adaptation of the popular isekai fantasy light novel series of the same name by Nekoko. It will be simulcast exclusively on the fast-growing streaming platform from AMC Networks. Yes, even faster-growing than AMC+ or Shudder.

For anime fans headed to Dallas’ Anime Frontier 2025, they’ll be able to see the North American premiere of the new isekai series at the convention in advance of the series’ premiere in January.

What is Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling about?

The official synopsis from HIDIVE reads:

Our hero needs to come out of his shell… literally! Reborn in another world inside a dragon egg, he doesn’t have the amazing magic or mighty physical strength of your typical isekai’d adventurer just yet.

He’ll need to break free and grow from a weak hatchling and into a fearsome beast if he wants to escape the deep, dark forest unscathed. What battles and adventures await him in this unique take on the isekai phenomenon?

Originally launched by Nekoko as a web novel in August 2015, the light novel series debuted in December 2015 with illustrations by Naji Yanagida. It currently comprises 16 volumes, with the first 12 volumes published by Earth Star Entertainment and the remaining volumes published by Square Enix from volume 13 onwards.

For English readers, the series is localized and published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, the manga publisher quickly becoming known for their physical releases of webcomics and webnovels.
