Legendary Pictures, in collaboration with Capcom, has officially announced a new live-action film adaptation of the iconic video game franchise Street Fighter, set for release in IMAX theaters on October 16, 2026. This marks the first film to be distributed under Legendary’s new global agreement with Paramount Pictures, but it is not the first time the franchise has been adapted, notably without the strong Latino presence that represented the game’s Latin American player base.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is currently in production and will star Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. This isn’t the first time that the classic Capcom franchise has been adapted to the silver screen. For a full list of cast and more, see below.

What to expect from this new Street Fighter movie?

The Street Fighter movie is set to honor the classic 90s arcade game while updating the franchise for a new generation. The plot is set in 1993 and follows estranged Street Fighters Ryu and Ken Masters. They are forced back into the world of combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament.

This brutal clash of fighters is revealed to be more than a simple competition, as a deadly conspiracy forces them to confront each other and the demons of their past. The film promises to bring the game’s famous Hadoukens and roundhouse kicks to the big screen, featuring fan-favorite characters in a cinematic battle royale.
