One of the things that keeps players coming back to Teamfight Tactics is Riot Games‘ willingness to experiment. Every set brings a new wrinkle to the formula, creating new possibilities for players to discover. Whether it’s bringing The Anomaly to players or charming them with magic, there’s always something new to discover in The Convergence. While “K.O. Coliseum” introduces new elements like these, it also brings changes to a core aspect of the game: roles.
In past Teamfight Tactics sets, roles were primarily used to determine the type of equipment a character should have. With this set, a few more twists are being introduced to the mechanics to vary gameplay slightly, without significantly altering how the game functions.
Firstly, how roles generate mana will differ. For example, Tanks now generate less mana per hit, but also generate mana when taking damage. This gives the different roles added focus, which complements the second change nicely.
K.O. Colesium may be Teamfight Tactics’ most fun new set yet.
Roles will also be getting some minor added features. Returning to tanks, they will now have a passive effect that affects enemy targeting. When a tank and another unit are equally likely to be targeted, the tank will always be picked. This is intended to help melee carry options become more competitive.
While change is a big element that keeps the Teamfight Tactics audience coming back, another is the great theming and energy that each set brings. This set may be the most fun and most effective theming yet, as The Convergence fully embraces the world of anime, with both familiar and new traits, as well as visual elements.
The biggest way the viauls deliver an anime look is thanks to the incorporation of bold line work on characters. The lineart approach to the look goes perfectly with the set’s theme. The only thing that could make the Star Guardians more magical girl-inspired is to adapt the lineart look of the animation medium.
K.O. Coliseum’s embrace of anime adds a new element of fun to Teamfight Tactics.
The four main traits of this set also lean into its inspiration. Along with the aforementioned Star Guardians, Battle Academia, Mighty Mech, and Soul Fighters join the fray, bringing even more anime energy to the set as they reimagine classic concepts from the respective genres that inspired them.
There are also elements within the augments and other aspects of the game for players to discover. Perhaps most notable of these is the isekai augment. As you would expect, this augment allows the player to summon a magical hero from another world to fight for them.
The way Riot has worked the feel of anime into Teamfight Tactics brings the game to a new level of fun. The visuals pop, and the gameplay feels interesting and dynamic, even when I’m the first to get knocked out of a match. If you’ve ever been curious about trying the game, this may be a great set to jump into, especially for anime fans.

Traits
The thing that makes K.O. Coliseum’s selection of traits stand out is how fun they are. From breaking through to higher power levels or summoning a mech to aid in battle, the traits bring opportunities for strategizing and fun in equal measure.
K.O. Coliseum is also bringing a change to prismatic traits. To unlock the prismatic level of Mighty Mech, Battle Academia, Soul Fighter, and Star Guardian, players will need to reach the final breakpoint and then meet a special condition.
- Battle Academia: Character upgrade their abilities and gain potential. Potential improves their abilities.
- Crystal Gambit: Kills and losses during player combats earn Gem Power. Every 4-player combats choose to convert Gem Power into rewards or Double Down. While Double Down is active, losses grant 100% more Gem Power, but wins lose 50% Gem Power and cash out immediately.
- Luchador: Luchadors gain bonus Attack Damage. At 50% health, Luchadors cleanse negative effects, heal, and leap back into the fight, knocking up enemies in a 1-hex radius for 1.50 seconds.
- Mentor: The mentor trait is only active when you are fielding either one or all four mentors. Each mentor has a unique bonus. When you have one mentor, all other characters gain their bonus. When you have all four, the mentors gain each other’s bonuses; other characters gain nothing.
- Mighty Mech: Summons the Mighty Mech and improves it at each break point. Mighty Mech characters heal it for 10% of the damage they deal. Each star level among Mighty Mech characters increases Mighty Mech’s power.
- Monster Trainer (Unique to Lulu): Choose which monster Lulu summons to replace her in combat out of three options. It gains XP after each combat and bonus XP for each takedown it participates in. When your Monster levels up, it gains 1% Health. At levels 15 and 30, its spell evolves. Can be benched and replayed to change the monster.
- Rogue Captain (Unique to Twisted Fate): Twisted Fate upgrades the Crew Ship to deal 15% of its damage as true damage and draws Bounty Cards each round that grant random rewards. Bounty Cards get better for each player combat.
- Rosemother (Unique to Zyra): Gain 1/1/8 placeable plants, based on Zyra’s star level. Plants in the front two rows grow into durable Grasping Roots, while plants in the back two rows grow into Deadly Spines. Rosemother plants benefit from Zyra’s Ability Power and Attack Speed. When Zyra casts, her plant restores 50% Health and gains 50% Attack Speed for the rest of the combat. If the plant is dead, she revives it instead.
- Soul Fighter: Soul Fighters gain bonus Health, and gain Attack Damage and Ability Power every second up to 8 stacks. At max stacks, deal bonus true damage.
- Stance Master (Unique to Lee Sin): When you field Lee Sin, choose between Duelist Stance, Executioner Stance, and Juggernaut Stance! Each stance has a unique ability and grants Lee Sin the associated trait. Can be benched and replayed to change stance.
- Star Guardian: Star Guardians have a unique Teamwork bonus that is granted to all Star Guardians. Every Star Guardian fielded increases the bonus.
- Supreme Cells: The Cell who dealt the most damage last combat is Supreme. When the Supreme Cell dies, the Cell with the highest current damage becomes Supreme. Cells gain Damage Amp DA. The Supreme Cell gains more and executes enemies under 10% Health.
- The Champ (Unique to Braum): The Champs’ victories against players grant 2 Poro-fans! On a loss, Poro-fans prevent 1 Tactician damage each, then you lose 75% of your fans (rounded up).
- The Crew: Crew champions gain 6% Health & AS for each Crew member fielded. Every 3-star Crew champion grants an additional bonus.
- Wraith: Every 5 seconds, the Shadow Realm strikes the 3 closest enemies, dealing total magic damage equal to a portion of the damage dealt by Wraiths since the last trigger. Your lowest health Wraith heals for 18% of damage dealt by Wraiths and the Shadow Realm.
- Bastion: Your team gains 10 Armor and Magic Resist. Bastions gain more, and the value doubles in the first 10 seconds of combat.
- Duelist: Duelists gain Attack Speed on each attack, stacking up to 12 times.
- Edgelord: Edgelords gain Omnivamp and AD. They also have 40% Attack Speed while attacking enemies under 50% of their Health.
- Executioner: Executioners gain Critical Strike Chance, and their spells can critically strike.
- Heavyweight: Your team gains 100 Health. Heavyweights gain additional bonus Health and Attack Damage equal to a percentage of their Health.
- Juggernaut: Juggernauts gain Durability, increased above 50% health. When a Juggernaut dies, other Juggernauts heal for 10% of their max Health
- Prodigy: Your team gains Mana Regen. Prodigies gain more.
- Protector: Units gain 5% Durability while shielded.
Once per combat at 50% Health, Protectors shield themselves and their closest ally for a percentage of their maximum Health. Shields stack. - Sniper: Snipers gain Damage Amp and increased damage against targets farther away.
- Sorcerer: Sorcerers gain bonus Ability Power. When an enemy dies after being damaged by a Sorcerer, they deal a percentage of that enemy’s maximum Health to another enemy.
- Stragist: Combat Start: Allies in the front 2 rows gain a shield for 15 seconds. Allies in the back 2 rows gain Damage Amp. Strategists gain triple.
New Set Mechanic: Power Up
At rounds 1-3 and 3-6, players will receive a Power Snax. This item can be given to any character. The player then gets to pick between three possible upgrades for that character. These possible upgrades are curated for each character, so you’ll always get three options that complement their role. If you later decide you no longer want the snax on the chosen character, a new consumable, Snax Remover, will let the player return the Power Snax to their bench so they can equip it to a new character. A single character cannot be given both snaxs.
Augments
K.O Coliseum brings 120 new augments, with a special focus on novel content. This means rather than simply buffing stats or other game elements, these novel content augments introduce alterations that change how elements like traits work. 70 in all, these augments look to create even more chaos and strategic opportunity in matches.
New Cosmetics
“K.O. Coliseum” brings a bevy of new cosmetics, including Chibi Spirit Blossom Lillia, High Noon Unbound Thresh, the Veiled Village arena, and new little legend Kiko, Star Guardian Ahri’s familiar. The set is also bringing an array of cool, anime-inspired portals to let players add even more personality to their setups.
Teamfight Tactics‘ “K.O. Coliseum” set looks to bring fun, deep strategy, and amazing theme delivery to players. Hitting PBE servers on July 15th, and coming to the main game for both mobile and PC on July 30th, aspiring tacticians won’t have to wait long for their chance to experience everything the new set has to offer.
