The rhythm of the world comes alive in MAJJAM, the debut project from the recently announced studio Opus Major: a multiplayer adventure game where music shapes the gameplay, from movement and combat to exploration and interaction.

Speaking on the announcement, the founders of Opus Major, Pierre-Armand Nicq and Jean-Nicolas Vernin shared the following via a release to press:

“Our team’s dream is to make the world jam together. In music, a jam is a suspended moment — a shared energy between friends, strangers, and other passionate souls who just happen to be there. You might not know each other, but for a few magical, spontaneous moments, you vibe together. It’s that same spark you sometimes feel in a multiplayer game. Our dream is to bring all these joyful moments together into one single, shared experience.”

What is MAJJAM?

MAJJAM is a vibrant co-op adventure inspired by the communal creativity of a live jam session, where players can build their own expressive arsenal of melodies, rhythms, and harmonies to explore and rescue a vibrant and ever-evolving world. With music at its core, MAJJAM offers a deeply immersive social experience that celebrates the connective power of both video games and music.

MAJJAM throws you into a vibrant world where music is life itself. Seriously, rhythm and melodies are how you interact with everything. This musical energy is what keeps the world together and pushes back against Kodé, a creeping, silent fog of corruption that threatens to swallow everything.

You’ll battle this encroaching darkness by Jamming. This isn’t about hitting precise notes in a rhythm game; it’s about combining your character’s unique abilities and instruments with your pals to defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and literally reshape the world around you. Opus Major’s mission is to get everyone jamming, regardless of their musical chops. Jamming serves a ton of purposes: fighting Kodé, exploring, influencing the environment, and uncovering secrets.

What can we expect from MAJJAM characters?

Each character in MAJJAM rocks a special Jam ability. But that’s just the start. You’ll also unlock, collect, and store a whole system of musical abilities as you play. Every single ability has its own unique musical power, deepening your skillset and your connection to the world.

Key Game Features:

  • Jamming for Everyone: MAJJAM nails the joy of a musical jam session, whether you’re a virtuoso or can’t carry a tune. The tech auto-harmonizes performances online with no noticeable latency, making creativity accessible to all players through intuitive mechanics, rather than relying on musical skill. This isn’t a rhythm game; it’s about communal creation.
  • A World That Sings: The vibrant, detailed world of MAJJAM shifts in response to your input. The environment reacts to your abilities, responds to them, and even reveals mysteries. Combine your musical expressions with others to reshape parts of the world, unlocking new areas, discovering powerful melodies, and encountering surprising obstacles.
  • Dynamic, Dangerous Fog: Kodé isn’t just some abstract evil. It’s a massive, lethal environmental threat that defines the boundaries of exploration. But your musical powers can push back its fog, letting you explore new zones that were once consumed by its tides.
  • Social & Customizable: Whether you dig strumming chords, sweet woodwind melodies, or percussive beats, MAJJAM offers multiple colorful character types. Each has their own musical capabilities and distinct look. Maxing out your power means jamming with others, cooperatively creating perfect harmonies to amplify your effects on the world.

MAJJAM is available now on PC via Steam.
