Still reeling over Squid Game Season 2 and counting down the days until its final season? Get ready to mark your calendars. We now have a premiere date for Squid Game Season 3.

Netflix announced the return of its global phenomenon, Squid Game, for a third and final season, premiering June 27, 2025. Gone is the rainbow-hued track of Season 2’s six-legged pentathlon; in its place, a vivid swirling flower-pattern floor ominously foreshadows the cutthroat finale to come. The sinister silhouettes of Young-hee and her companion Cheol-su — first hinted at in last season’s post-credit scene — suggest that even more brutal games lie ahead.

So, this leads us to a very important question.

What will happen in Squid Game Season 3?

Squid Game Season 3 promotional poster

The third and final season of Squid Game follows Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game. Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players’ choices will lead to graver consequences with each round.

The world eagerly awaits the grand finale written and directed by Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who has vowed to bring the epic story to its deserved conclusion. Can we hope for humanity in the cruelest of realities? Fans all over the world are counting the days until the final answer is revealed.

Per the new trailer, it looks like Gi-hun (Player 456) is diving back into the deadly games after that jaw-dropping cliffhanger in Season 2. Now, we find Gi-hun more determined than ever to dismantle the whole terrifying operation. He’s still reeling from the devastating betrayal and loss of his closest ally, Jung-bae (Player 390), but new threats are emerging.

The newly unveiled teaser trailer kicks off with the eerie sight of the familiar pink guards carrying the box used for murdered players. Driven by curiosity and fear, the remaining players draw closer, and as they open the box, Gi-hun is inside. As he awakens, we’re immediately thrust into the chilling beginnings of a new game, and a massive gumball machine dispenses both red and blue balls, hinting at the fates and challenges that await.

What The Teaser Reveals!

The newly unveiled teaser trailer kicks off with the eerie sight of the familiar pink guards carrying a black box – those dreaded coffins for fallen players – to the resting area of the games. Curiosity and fear draw the remaining players closer, and as they open the box, a shocking reveal: Gi-hun is inside!

As he awakens, we’re immediately thrust into the chilling beginnings of a new game. A massive gumball machine dispenses both red and blue balls, hinting at the fates and challenges that await.

We also get glimpses of returning faces that will either be allies or new threats:

  • The mysterious Front Man
  • Detective Hwang Jun-ho
  • Players Myung-gi (Player 333), Dae-ho (Player 388), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yong-sik (Player 007), Geum-ja (Player 149), Jun-hee (Player 222), Min-su (Player 125), and Nam-gyu (Player 124)
  • And, of course, the ever-present pink guard, No-eul

The suspense builds to a crescendo, ending with the unsettling, mysterious cries of a baby, leaving us with so many questions!

The success of Squid Game speaks volumes

Squid Game is a fan-beloved Korean drama that quickly became a cultural phenomenon and Netflix’s most popular show ever and has propelled the Hallyu Wave to new heights worldwide.

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game continues to captivate global audiences. With its Season 2 return in December 2024, it smashed multiple records, including the most views for a show in its premiere week and entering the Most Popular Non-English TV list in just three days. It currently ranks #2 with 174.7 million views, just behind Season 1 at 265.2 Million.

The show became a global sensation, boosting interest in K-content. Iconic moments went viral, Vans slip-on sneakers sales increased 8,000%, and Halloween costumes sold out around the world, shaping trends and solidifying its place in pop culture. Squid Game made Emmy® history with its first-ever wins for a non-English language show, and Season 2 was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series—Drama.

It’s even gone so far as to completely ignore the series’ lessons and inspire numerous spinoff shows. In 2023, Netflix debuted the Emmy® nominated and BAFTA-winning reality competition Squid Game: The Challenge. The franchise continues to expand with Squid Game: The Experience, a touring activation where fans can play games inspired by the show and with Squid Game: Unleashed, a multiplayer video game that is on track to become Netflix’s most downloaded game.

Squid Game Season 1-3 are available now, exclusively on Netflix.
