Following his recent, brilliant, and Oscar nominated performance for The Banshees of Inisherin, Colin Farrell returns to television with the first trailer for Sugar. Leading the series, he’s adopting a suave demeanor as a private investigator. Aided by a stacked cast of industry veterans and up-and-comers, the series is poised to be a breakout for Apple TV. This isn’t the first television series for Farrell, who appeared in season two of True Detective. Farrell also has the upcoming The Batman spinoff series The Penguin, expected to arrive later this year.
But Sugar looks to fully capture the actor’s long-lasting magnetism. The trailer introduces the L.A. setting, along with the fact there will be no shortage of action. The eight-episode series is out in April. For fans of pulpy noir and crime dramas, this one is worth checking out.
What Is Sugar About
Sugar is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture, and television history: the private detective story. Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried.
