SMITE 2 has announced its first new God with Hecate. Revealed by Titan Forge Games, Hecate is one of the most community-requested Gods and is the first arriving exclusively to SMITE 2. The game allows players to walk between realms with the Greek goddess of sorcery, witchcraft, and magic.

Players of the original have already experienced the fun of playing as Gods. From Thor to Medusa, SMITE players are able to weaponize the power of 100+ playable Gods.

Hecate joins the initial roster of alpha-Gods in the upcoming sequel. The third-person action MOBA, SMITE 2 is the highly anticipated follow up to it’s award winning predecessor, Smite. The studio dubs SMITE 2 “the next generation of cross-platform third person MOBA. It is a true sequel to SMITE, fully modernized and rebuilt from the group up in Unreal Engine 5.”

Hecates unique abilities, ethereal character design and visual effects are due to that transition to Unreal Engine 5. In this week’s deep dive video, the developers focus on Hecate’s development, and how Unreal Engine 5 allows the design team to have greater influence over the prototyping phases of a characters’ kit.

Witness the result of these changes in Hecate’s abilities. Traverse Worlds changes the visual design of the world for Hecate and enemy Gods hit by the effect. Another unique ability, Spell Eater, allows Hecate to charge up an Orb during intense battles to unleash damage based on allied and enemy abilities cast near it.

Release Date for Smite 2

Players can now wishlist SMITE 2 on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Epic Games Store. Register now for alpha test access at the games website. SMITE 2 Founder’s Edition bundles, soon available for purchase, will guarantee access to alpha testing.
