Digital Extremes hosted its 11th Tennocon in London, Ontario, this weekend. Aside from a rousing orchestral concert featuring aerial dancers, the panels introduced new information about the studio’s game duo. During the Soulframe Devstream, hosted live at the Canada Life Center arena, the pre-alpha’s latest fable was announced: Warsongs.
The developers revealed gameplay from the brand-new Warsongs Fable quest featuring actor Ben Starr as an antagonist named Tempest Bayor ahead of the full TennoLive presentation.

“Our approach to storytelling in Soulframe has focused a lot on redemption, with uplifting character arcs built around salvation and not necessarily the destruction of the human body and soul,” said Geoff Crookes, Creative Director for Soulframe, in a media release.
“Life has many paths toward redemption, though, and with the Warsongs Fable we’re attempting to explore a smidge of that contrast to demonstrate the necessary balance and coexistence. Growth does not truly occur without a certain level of despair and fear. These are important storytelling mechanics that are incredibly relatable to the human experience and journey in life. These themes aren’t comfortable to experience, but they’re essential to our existence as temporary inhabitants of Alca. We hope our community, and players discovering Soulframe for the first time today, find a sense of connection with that.”
Warsongs is centered on delving deeper into the Envoy, their mother, and the broader significance of how players interact with the world around them. Warsongs introduces a bevy of new mechanics to the pre-alpha game, including a long-requested mount system, “vegan fishing,” and brand-new progression paths for players to explore. And, of course, as with last year, Digital Extremes also explained how players can access the title.

What is new in Warsongs Fable Quest?
Despite its pre-alpha status, Soulframe hasn’t wasted any time expanding its lore or the systems in the game either. During the dev stream, we learned just how much the game is expanding, and in the community manager’s words, adding some edgelord to the game.
MOUNTS!!!
Mounts when?? Well, this year! Envoys everywhere can be excited, now that the pups that they collected in a previeous Prelude fable can be The wait to traverse through Alca with a full-grown wolf companion is nearing its end. Soulframe Preludes players will soon be able to test out the first highly anticipated mount system later this year.
New Corruption Progression Path
Players will now be able to build their Envoy in new ways with paths that channel corruption. Now, players will be able to channel corruption to carve a new kind of path for redemption with a darker progression path introduced in the Warsongs fable quest.
Players will be able to wield the power of the corrupting Ichor with the new Vadagar Pact. The exploding boomerangs, summon ensnaring tendrils, or summon a stampede of corrosive steeds that leave murky pools in their wake.
Ben Starr joins Soulframe as Tempest Bayor
With a new Fable comes a new antagonist to the Villa story. The Envoy’s new main rivals is Tempest Bayor, voiced by Ben Starr. Starr’s other work includes Claire Obscur: Expedition 33, The First Berserker: Khazan, Final Fantasy XVI, and more.
Tempest Bayor is a rare red-armed Envoy, he aligns himself with the invading Ode forces, supported by a raven companion. His motivations are unknown, but the Empress of Eldveil, voiced by Jennifer English (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) in her first in-game appearance.
New Boss, Mendicant Reinbreaker
The edgelord continues as we move to.a new boss. The Medicant Reinbreaker is currently available in Soulframe Preludes for Envoys to tackle. A mounted menace (to honor the long-awaited introduction of mounts), you will fight Medicant Reinbreaker to free his indentured steed for the potential chance to befriend it in the future.
Fishing Mini-Game
As Soulframe takes a more intimate turn, Envoys will be able to recall forgotten childhood pastimes of lakeside fishing with Grandfather Doyen in a new fishing gathering activity woven directly into the game’s narrative while expanding the Alca’s worldbuilding.
When does the new Fable release?
Soulframe Preludes’ newest Fable quest, Warsong is set to release later this Fall.
How to play Soulframe Preludes?
The free-to-play fantasy action RPG revealed that players everywhere can gain permanent access to Soulframe Preludes by signing up on the official site by July 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET. TennoCon attendees and viewers at home can tune in to TennoLive on Warframe’s Twitch or YouTube channels at 4:30 p.m. ET to watch the latest gameplay demo for Soulframe.
