Continuing its streak of multiple cover athletes, EA Sports College Football 27 is going with three of the 2025 season’s top talent and program-defining players. With the 2025 Heisman winner, Fernando Mendoza, now on the Las Vegas Raiders, we knew that it was not going to be an Indiana player, and given their median age, it makes sense. Instead, the EA Sports CFB 27 cover athletes come from the other College Football Playoff schools, and had they not played in a season with the 16-0 Hoosiers, it’s clear all three talents would have gone even further.
But it’s not just the cover athletes that get to take the focus on the Standard Edition; a coach, once again, graces the cover of the Deluxe Edition, with Coach Cignetti anchoring the center, flanked by players Colin Simmons, Leonard Moore, and Jayden Maiava. You didn’t think CFB 27 was going to ignore Coach Cig, right? Set to release on July 9, 2029.

“College Football 27 promises to be an incredible year, one in which we’re able to start reflecting the modern era of college football more authentically and with more depth for our players than ever before,” said Evan Dexter, VP of Franchise Strategy and Marketing in a release to press.
Adding, “Our cover athletes – Kewan Lacy, Malachi Toney, and Dante Moore – represent that modern era by transcending programs and drawing in generations of college football fans, regardless of their school pride. We built the game for those fans, and we can’t wait for them to see the full reveal of College Football 27 on June 4.”
Here is everything you need to know about the choices so far and when you’ll get the chance to see more about the game below.
EA Sports CFB 27 Standard Edition Cover Athletes

The three Standard Edition cover athletes were chosen for their dominant offensive play last season, representing three arms of offense that defined the season.
Miami WR Malachi Toney

An electric player and the core factor in keeping the National Title game between the U and IU intensely competitive, Malachi Toney’s determination and ability to bounce back during the 2025-2026 college football season were memorable, to say the least.
Having begun his time with the Miami Hurricanes at only 17 years old and a true Freshman, Toney shattered the Hurricanes’ all-time single-season receptions record with 109 receptions for over 1,200 yards, and didn’t let his youth be a hindrance when called to college football’s biggest stage.
About gracing the cover of the EA Sports CFB 27, Toney said, “Having this opportunity after only my freshman year means everything to me. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of the Miami community, and this honor of knowing EA believes in what I’m capable deepens my drive to show up for the program and the fans who have believed in me from day one.”
Oregon QB Dante Moore

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore has done something a lot of college players aren’t doing so much anymore: staying another year for development under his coach, Dan Lanning. Leading his team to a 51-34 win against James Madison and a 23-0 victory against Texas Tech’s dominant defense, it was only the undefeated champs that shut him down.
Dante Moore’s stats are nothing to scoff at, especially given the QB class he was competing against last season, capping it off with over 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns, leading the Ducks deep into the playoffs.
“Being on the cover of EA SPORTS College Football 27 is an absolute privilege after growing up a fan of the game,” said Moore in a release to press. “Coach Lanning and the Duck were on last year’s Deluxe Edition, and now to carry that legacy forward and represent Oregon myself makes me really proud.”
Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy

The Ole Miss Rebels were put through the wringer in the off-season with their head coach’s departure, but that didn’t stop Kewan Lacy from putting on a show, backing up the numbers he put up throughout the 2025-2026 season under his old coach, Lane Kiffin’s tutelage, showcasing that the success belonged to the players.
“I would play this game for hours with my family growing up, so now being on the cover of EA SPORTS College Football 27 representing Ole Miss feels surreal,” said Lacy, about College Football and what it means to be on the cover. “It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The Rebels’ CFP performance was a 41-10 victory over Tulane, sending one of the SEC’s most dominant programs, the Georgia Bulldogs, home next in a nail-biter, with the Rebels winning 39-34. His performance across the season was also dominant, pounding the rock, rushing for more than 1,500 yards, and earning 24 touchdowns. Having only spent one year at Ole Miss so far, he has a bright future ahead in a conference where wins and losses can be defined by how teams perform in the trenches.
EA Sports CFB 27 Deluxe Edition Cover

Continuing the tradition of taking a large swath of college football stars, the Deluxe Edition sees the Standard Edition athletes joined by prominent defenders, another quarterback, the national championship-winning coach Curt Cignetti, several beloved mascots, and iconic gameday gear, celebrating the breadth of successful collegiate programs.
Coach Curt Cignetti

Joining the athletes is head coach Curt Cignetti, who guided the Indiana Hoosiers to their first-ever national championship win. But earning your school’s first Natty isn’t the only thing that Coach Cig did. The former JMU coach, known for winning (Google it), brought the team from being one of the losingest teams in the sport to an unheard-of 16-0 season with a dominant presence on both defense and offense.
The Cignetti system invested in players that others had overlooked, leading to IU’s quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, not only winning the Heisman but also becoming the number one pick in the NFL draft. Through a system that valued production and the hogmollies on the offensive line, Coach Cig redefined what it means to take over a program and bring it to greatness. Oh, did I mention that he did that in just two years?
Deluxe Edition Cover Athletes

In a release to press, EA Sports stated that the Deluxe Edition cover celebrates “some of the most notable programs in College Football today.” Despite a losing season, the Longhorns’ edge rusher Colin Simmons headlines the defense after recording 44 tackles, 12 sacks, and three forced fumbles last season.
Notre Dame standout Leonard Moore became an All-American and widely respected cornerback in just his second season with the Fighting Irish, despite the university’s decision to opt out of the Pop-Tart Bowl, one of college football’s most beloved bowl games.
Finally, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava is one of the most anticipated quarterbacks to watch this season following a 24-touchdown campaign for the Trojans.
EA Sports College Football 27 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
